What pins have been coming thru the Dedshed

Carpentry, electronics, electrical, welding, painting, fabricating and the list goes on.

All of the above.

Filthy drop target bank so pulled out for a strip/clean and polish.

And now that you do pinballs, you are a jack of all trades.

I always thought there should be a trade for arcade work but when you think about it, you would need to know a little bit about everything.

Carpentry, electronics, electrical, welding, painting, fabricating and the list goes on.

Here

I'm glad you suggested that thread, very nice work.

Not bad for a Boily aye.;)

Reminds me of the building work I did down my farm.

https://www.aussiearcade.com/showthread.php/85391-My-Escape-To-Reality

I didn't cover the building of the place in big detail as it was all but done when I joined this forum.

It took over 4 years of "visits" as it is 220Kms from this house and life also gets in the way but other than the concrete slabs, I did the lot myself but unlike you, I didn't need council approval which would have been a real pain in the arse but I had things like sub zero temperatures and no mains power, only generator power to contend with.

Not bad for a tech aye,;)

You'll have to have a look some time as I'm sure someone like you would truly appreciate the work involved when you build something yourself.

The spinning discs all cleaned, lubed and back together. They were so noisy. Much better.

So that's the majority done. Just a few minor bits left to do then some play test sessions are in order.

Edit

Stupid old phone had broken upload.

So that's pretty much Whirlwind done

Left to do

(Done) Change out some stand ups and adjust

(Done) Add the knocker assy

Add the fan motor and test

Clean behind the display panel

(Done) Sw adjustment.

CPU sounds not working (sound and overlay boards good ..... music/speech ok)

One of the switches, two actually, didn't have the green column sw wires daisy chained connecting through. So made up and fitted it. No wonder it wouldn't work.

Up next was a new Resto Joker Poker playfield swap for a "mate"

He had most of the new bits come with it.

Started by running new braid wire and installing the new sockets.

I'll give you a hundred for it, and I won't tell anybody.🤙. Your got to also love the beautiful Williams colours on that whirlwind apron too.

I can do yours too once it's up and running. Start saving to get the parts and I'll add it to my list.

Haha.

With Whirlwind complete(almost), and Joker Poker done.

It's time for a quick inspection on

DrDude

This thing is pretty clean and has been played in many comps. But, I'll find something.

Although the flippers felt and played ok, I thought they had just too much deadness from a bounce.

So rest assured, the bushes were sloppier than I like. So out they come.

Also the left flipper coil was a little bit melty. As suspected, the sleeve ain't comin out. Luckily I have a fresh new wrappered coil in stock.

New bushes in, but now that I'm in this deep. Why not just do the kit.

So with new bushes, and a mini kit of new plunger/pawl assy, sleeves, sys11 coil stops, and removal of coil springs for the external return springs, she should be tip top comp ready.

A nice set of dark blue titans, and we are in business. Although, with the correct coil stops, that left ramp is a bit easy, so may need to downgrade back to the FL11630 coil.

Bushes usually means bolts as well. Shit quality bolts used these day had me source my own. Grade 8 cap screws from the bolts supply guy and now they don't wear.

Problem is getting replacement bolts that have no thread where the bush rubs on them or where they go through the Pawl.

Thread on pawl or bush is like a file on the metal.

I searched far and wide for these recently. Couldn’t find any the right length. The only ones I could find were longer ones which did have the clean shaft but I had to cut off some thread with the Dremel. Gave me peace of mind though. The thread is also softer and so you get the double problem of it chewing out the bush and also getting narrow and wobbly.

@Dedrok - where’d you get the bits to do the flipper upgrade so you have the return spring? It’s just an extension peice, a spring and drilling a hole right?

Just a regular WPC kit.

Come with the external springs, and the pawl assy has the non turn easy tighten nut. (No need for the Alan key)

Just use Sys 11 coil stops for more travel.

No holes drilled, just use the EOS screw to hold one end.

No no.

I'm talking the bush in the bracket with the 3 screws that the flipper bat shaft goes thru.

But I know what you mean.
