Once they were Pins - Meteor Firepower and Flash

Back in 1986 3 pins were put in this shack, yes there is a shack somewhere in there

The guy bought a Firepower, Flash and a Meteor for around about $20-$30 each at auction, and they have sat there ever since. The pic below is from June 2016, the shack is being held up by the Meteor but it looked in surprisingly good shape compared to the other two. Since then the Meteor has had more water damage and the backbox is collapsing, and the Firepower has caved in itself.

Finally got a call yesterday that he was ready to pull them out and if I was still interested I can grab them. I was hoping the Meteor playfield was good enough to justify a full restore on it, and the other 2 will just salvage what ever I can. So after using a car jack and a few posts to prop up the shack we got them out.

The Firepower was lucky to make it back so it was stripped/demolished on the trailer. It was a literal rats' nest! The playfield is pretty straight but some rot on the back, might clean up for a wall hanging, displays and transformer are shot but boards look good. Removed all of the loom and whatever othor parts were worth keeping.

The Flash playfield has had a lot more water through it so is bowed and rotted in places. Displays board and loom look alright. I had the bin handy for this one.

I only had a quick look at the Meteor, MPU has bad battery corrosion. The lockdown mech is rusted shut so will have to wait to see what the playfield is like to see what happens from here.

The bloke would spew if you told him what they are worth in good condition in today's market. I remember going to Point Lookout on Stradbroke Island when I was a kid for holidays every year .The house next door had a fridge holding up the highest part of the house off the ground. I reckon it did so for 10 years. Stuff putting a new post use a fridge or a pinball .. lol..

Sort of reminds me what it was like at Goddard's warehouse. All the machines were serviced and put in boxes for storage in the warehouse. Company was bought and they bought all those boxed machines, moved them into another factory with massive holes in the roof that was pigeon and rat infested.

I went to work for that company and saw all those machines we did our best to preserve and it seriously broke my heart seeing such neglect.

Thanks for the comments guys, I hope I never have to use a mallet and a jimmy bar while dealing with pinballs ever again, its just wrong. I got the lockdown bar off the Meteor tonight and the playfield is in great shape. No water has got onto it, has full mylar with maybe just the slightest bit of wear near the 6 bank drop targets. Colour is dull but that might just be the mylar. There are areas underneath that look near new. Apart from all the plungers that a have rusted its in better shape than one of my working pins!

I don't think it would have lasted another storm season in that shack. I know the Meteor it in pretty poor shape, but compared to the Firepower and Flash its unbelievable it lasted this long.
