River City Pinball - Win a Pinball Machine!!!

Recommended Posts

River City Pinball!!!

Brought to you by Retro Toys, Jimmy Nails, Saccharomyces Beer Cafe and Abita Brewing Co.

WIN A PINBALL MACHINE!!!!!

This will be a monthly event held at Saccharomyces Beer Cafe in West End. These will be run as individual events, not as a league.

The same format as Valley Pinball in 2015.

  • Four machines on site
  • Play each machine twice
  • Points are rated for your score on each machine
  • Top 8 go through to a head to head, single match, double elimination final
  • Final will be a best of 3 games on one machine

$20 entry each month

  • Games on free play from 10am
  • Qualifying begins at 11am sharp
  • Finals begin 2pm sharper still

Monthly prizes include a venue voucher from Saccharomyces & beer from Abita Brewing Co.

How do you win a pinball machine you say?!?!?

The pinball will be drawn in a raffle at the end of year. This is a door prize. Each time you compete in a monthly RCP event you receive one ticket in the draw. Each person receives one ticket per month. The value of the pinball machine prize at the end of the year is totally dependent on how many people attend. The bigger the kitty, the grander the prize. Bayside club in Melbourne gave away a $3500 machine in their first year and have plans to give away a brand new machine this year valued at over $8000.

We have only stated $2000 as a modest estimate. If we get 20 each month, machine value will be upwards $4000, 30 people a month upwards of $6000.

Every dollar will be accounted for and any money left over will rollover into next years prize. We may need some for t-shirt printing but am hoping the venue and beer sponsor will cover that.

For example:

10 meets with average 25 person attendance = $3750

Plus 3 high score machines each month = $600

Total for 2016 = $4350

There is only one way to earn extra tickets in to the draw. Each month 2-4 machines will be highlighted around Brisbane with a high score comp. These will be highlighted in this original post and the Facebook page each month. If you have the high score on that machine on the morning of the next event, you will receive a ticket in to the raffle. For the score to be valid you must send a selfie with the score in clear view to Jimmy Nails at 0423 104 011 or jimmynailspinball@gmail.com.

High score machines are live for the first month. You must have the high score on these machines by midnight on the 8th of April:

Star Wars at Greenslopes Bowls Club

Fish Tails at Saccharaomyces

To win the major prize you must be in attendance at the draw at the end of the year. There will also be minor prizes and most likely delicious beer and other beer themed merch.

Players who attend 5 or more events will get a free club t-shirt at the end of the year.

Revenue breakdown

$20 entry fee

  • $5 to Retro Toys (20%)
  • $15 to kitty

$20 to kitty from each high score machine around Brisbane each month

Dates for 2016

9th of April

7th of May

4th of June

2nd of July

23rd of July

Sunday 21st of August

Sunday 18th of September

Sunday 23rd of October

Sunday 20th of November

Sunday 18th of December

Current machines on site:

Fish Tails

Getaway High Speed II

Meteor

Venue: Saccharomyces Beer Cafe - Fish Lane West End, Brisbane - South Bank end of Fish Lane

Format: Practice and warm up from 10am

From 11am to 4pm players will be asked to play and record 2 rounds on each machine (4 machines). Points will be allocated to each player based on their rankings for each machine and then added together to determine overall rankings.

The top 8 players advance to finals and are split into two groups (1,2,7,8) and (3,4,5,6). Both groups play a 3 game match play round with 7,5,3,1 scoring. Top two players from each group proceed to finals, points do not carry over. Top 4 finalists play another 3 game matchplay round to determine winner.

Parking: Not sure how parking is going to go near the venue. Being a Saturday morning should be ok. There are a couple of parks in the loading zone next to the venue and on the sidewalk opposite the venue. There are also several parking garages nearby which you can pre-pay to save a couple of bucks.

Cheers!!!
