  1. I really hope you already know that you're not listening to Halsey singing here... You're listening to auto-tune, and what a producer wants you to hear. Not saying the following song is any better or worse, it's just the the song I've listened to the last 10-25 times on the trot. Cheers, G
  2. All looks good to me. I'm thinking I might take the opportunity to take a couple of months or so hitching and busking the east coast. Would be awesome to be able to make it well past the border and up to Townsville/Mackay. I'm committing myself to a big pinny gig in QLD over 13-15 DEC, so maybe we should look at NOV 29, or DEC 6 for the Coffs' Kerfuffle? Cheers, G
  3. How good was that!?! Highlight for me was the two young fellas tearing it up. Thanks Jimmi and Jas, and all involved. Suggestion: As a follow up, it would be great to see a bunch of comps in AUS/NZ that feature Jordan, Johannes, Escher, and Colin, along with Belles and Chimes. Cheers, G
  4. My 2c is to change the Bowland dates. Regardless of how the conflict of dates arose, Flipout will attract more people, and running both Bowland and Flipout on the same dates will cut numbers from both events. I'd like to do both, and I'm guessing maybe ten or more people are in the same boat. A big Bowland promotion @ Flipout could hopefully grab a handful of players who wouldn't have otherwize considered going to Pirie. Cheers, G
  5. Hey Paul, Just noticed these events are not yet posted on the IFPA Calendar. Cheers, G
  6. QLD Gold Coast Robina - Zone Bowling - Star Wars Premium - Munsters Pro - Deadpool Pro - ACDC Pro - Walking Dead Pro -Beatles.
  7. I'll speak for the boys and say that they'll be there. If you can make it a whole weekend pinny gig, I've got some friends in both Bello and Macksville I've been meaning to visit for far too long. I can visit one lot on the way up to your joint, and the other on the way back. Would be a wicked week. Cheers, G
  8. I don't own any machines, so I don't care about about themes or artwork, however that said, I was immediately struck by the art on Ghostbusters. I've played everything released by Stern in the last 20 years, plus all Jersey Jacks', and maybe 20% of the boutiques. I'm pretty sure Ghostbusters was the only one where I was immediately struck by the art. Perhaps it's because of the cartoon colours, or perhaps I'm used to many modern Sterns not really having much art (more like budget photo-shopping lol). GB is definitely hand drawn. If I had the money and was interested in a machine from the last 20 years, I'd be going for Simpsons Pinball Party, or a Jersey Jack for their deep rulesets, or perhaps a Primus because I love the older machines (and respect the band - Saw them at Silenas' when I was in my Longing for Lauren phase) - So easy to keep going back to, and always good for a couple of games if you can only spare a few minutes. I haven't seen the art on Primus, but Whoa Nellies' is pretty good, and looks to me as hand drawn (computer enhanced though). Cheers, G
  9. Ha ha. Too bad I'm not after one of those, or I would have been Johnny on the spot to snaffle it.
  10. I hear you there, Paul. Although I've never used auto-tune, it's a fantastic tool for someone like me who composes lyrical melodies, but can't sing fr shizzle. Yet the industry standard way of using auto tune today is killing the timbre, richness, and energy/vibrancy that music (vocals) should be sharing with the listener. To be frank, I much prefer the sneaky underhanded way the industry used to use like in the case of Milli Vanilli... Maybe they couldn't sing, but the voices heard on 'their' recordings were the voices of those who could really sing. Nowadays the industry, thanks to auto-tune, are blatantly truthful with their 'use' of non-singers, because those susceptible to the myth of fame just don't care about reality, and have no idea that they're swallowing loads every time they turn on their device. 'Non-singers' like Springsteen, Poly Styrene, Shane McGowan, Nico, Dylan, Joe Strummer, Marianne Faithfull, Cohen (add your own)... They're all becoming ghosts of the past, despite 100's of millions of music fans who are still attached to the character and delivery those voices gave, and still do to offer. Is it just me, or does anyone else notice some of the new singers on the block singing through their nose? The way technology is these days, it's hard for me to tell, but I have an intuition that many modern singers who have some talent or skill are cutting their teeth by singing along in their bedroom to auto-tuned vocals. Nothing wrong with singing or playing along with recordings in your bedroom... That's the way it's done when you don't have the privilege to grow up in a Home or Community where you can learn your thing off live musos. Sing or play along to fair and just music, and you'll get closer to being a fair and just muso yourself... Sing or play along to auto-tuned or machine made melodies and you'll sound like the music industry... Lifeless. I know I'm not an old fuddy duddy... My ears are as sharp as a tack (maybe I am fuddy?), and whilst I do like the 'older' stuff I like (that is not tautology ) I long to hear the new breed evolving, rather than devolving. I recently finished a 90sec epic composition entitled 'Streamlined for your Maximum Prime Time Experience' - It's a piss taking piece that has no chorus, and fits sweet in a slot of the structure of the modern music TV game shows. I'm so glad Punk Rock of the late 70's found me. I find it insane the vomit that is coughed up as mainstream music today is released by companies' who laud the fresh and innovative stuff punk produced back in the day. @Smithy... I guess you're Luke? I'm sure you trust that I'm not derailing your thread. I'll be over your way for the SA Masters, and will be hitting Grant up for me to crash at his warehouse. Super keen for you to bring your drums along (no triggers LOL) for a no-cover orientated jam. Cheers, G
  11. Yes. From brother to brother WE can work it out. @specialharmony Cheers, G
  12. Times like these it's always good to pay some time to the passions you've maybe been neglecting, or perhaps have a proper crack at something you've always wanted to have a crack at but have been putting off. Change is as good as a holiday, and all things must pass. Cheers, G
  13. LOL I know what I mean... H.G Wells wrote fiction... Tesla was fibred with fact. Aside from the fact of being dead, I'm sure Tesla would be excluded from the 2019 Brissy Masters based on his finances :p. G
  14. OK... Maybe they were phoning the real Tesla to see how his time machine is going . G
  15. Maybe they're phoning Charles Babbage :unsure. G
  16. There's a genuine possibility the spa owner may do some kind of trade for a fully working pin. Cheers, G
  17. I reckon I could pioneer a beer just this once :D. Cheers, G
  18. You've posted that previously, Travilhug. ----------- The same way I see Oils, PE, and the Clash as the same band, I hear the following three songs as one: Cheers, G
  19. Is that you, Dave? If so, can you tell me if Dan is on this forum... I'll be up for Ekka, and will have something that will maybe interest his Cricket Club. I was gonna respond with something like... "They'd be even better if they released some new stuff", however I did a quick net search, and found some new TOOL is blood red on the 'morrow horizon. Happy days. Hopefully for me, the new stuff will further highlight the plight of those on Gilligan's Island. Cheers, G
  20. I wasn't going to comment on this impasse further, however now it's been extracted from the original thread, I guess it's full steam ahead for further comment! Good to see that by moving the posts in to this Forum it's garnered a genuine laugh or two from the players who prefer playing pinball only as a social/enjoyment thing. Ta. It's the second freaking time in a row my name has been postulated in a Major Tournament thread just before its' turned to event organizer bashing. I guess I'm just lucky that I make a point of shaking the hand(s) and thanking the organizer(s) at the completion of every event, plus when available, volunteer assistance in set-up and tear-down. Haha... I hear you, Jas. I don't give two hoots about what anyone thinks of me, and even I'm embarrassed! Glen, whilst I agree with this comment on its' own, you made it in reference to my name, even though I stated in effect that it's my choice to not leave my money with a financial institution, or have my bank accounts hooked up to the internet. Obviously I'm at least connected to the tech system in some way for you to be able to read this. I'm maybe being nitpicky here, however misconstruing the written word, along with inaccurate portrayal in a forum are pet peeves of mine. It leads to a litany of nonsense far worse than chinese whispers. Not as bad as gossiping slaves though :o. IMO, you've misconstrued me, and used that as an irrelevant arguement. That's partly why I reckon that when you make a public beef with one party, you shouldn't publicly use the names' of third parties. IMO your original post would have been a lot stronger had it read "I see a few stalwarts on the waiting list. What are the chances of the cap being increased? Would be a shame for them to miss the biggest event of the year". Here's a way you can publicly use other people's names and probably get a different reaction. And contrary to much of your MO posted by others about you on AA, you were leaving early... and sober! ;) ---------- I've said it here, and many places before, and I'll say it again. I'm perfectly capable of making myself look like a dick without anyone else's assistance. Cheers, G
  21. Norbert lives up that way now. Cheers, G
  22. Unfortunately I'm going to have to miss this yet again. Maybe next year. Have fun all. Cheers, G
  23. For the record, I'm pretty confident at least 2% of the 160 will pull the pin before event start, which will enable at least myself to participate. I reckon too, there's a fair chance that both Lambo and Jimmi, plus Ekka, are investigating opportunities to raise the cap. I must admit I was caught off-guard at the late announcement of the cap, however, in the weeks leading up to the cap being announced, I bought two tickets for some of the side tourney's, as well as made a payment for the SA Masters. I also choose not to leave money on my debit card, nor have any of my accounts hooked up to net banking. Were that not the case, I would have been able to purchase a Masters ticket when I first read that a cap had been announced. It'll be a cracking event with or without me. Cheers, G
  24. Rant against Rage? Adelaide created Chisel! - YOU BASTARDS! Such fantastic (popular) songs, such an fantastic (popular) Aussie band, and such a great voice that myself and 100's of thousands of Aussies will never relate to. - The Dichotomy of Disposable Aussie G. (not coming soon to a cinema right near you) PS: Aussie/Kiwi pinny comps need Aussie/Kiwi soundtracks IMO.
