  1. Proudly sponsored by AMD, the 2019 IFPA ACS Pinball will be held in Canberra: Friday 15th, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th of February 2019
  2. The ACT Pinball Championship will be held this Sunday, 4th of November at the Basement (4 Cohen Street Belconnen). I would like to acknowledge and thank AMD (Bruce and Michael) who will be supporting our event and providing prizes. Please note that the ACT Pinball Championship will be run on https://matchplay.events. Please visit the Matchplay site and setup an account ASAP. When you have a Matchplay account, you will be able to use your mobile phone to check live results and find out what games you will be playing. Tournaments and results will also be displayed on TV screens at the venue. Sunday 4th November – ACT Pinball Championship ($30) • Doors open 8:30am to register/check-in for ACT Pinball Championship and Flip Frenzy. Free play and practice. • ACT Pinball Championship Qualifying starts 9:00am. • Qualifying - 7 four-player matchplay games, scoring 7,5,3,1 points on randomly assigned machines. Top 16 qualifiers make the finals. • Finals commence 15 minutes after the last qualifying round finishes. The finals will commence at approximately 1:00pm. • Final #1 - 3 four-player games for top 16 players. Four groups. Top 2 players from each group progress to next final. • Final #2 - 3 four-player games for top 8 players. Two groups. Top 2 players from each group progress to next final. • Final #3 - 3 four-player games for top 4 players. Top 2 players progress to grand final. • Grand final - best of 3 games head-to-head. The ACT Pinball championship is an IFPA registered event. Sunday 4th November – Flip Frenzy ($20) Registration/Check-in for Flip Frenzy closes at 6:45pm. Players must have an assigned registration number before 7:00pm. Flip Frenzy commences at 7:00pm and will end at 10:00pm. What is it? Flip Frenzy is a timed tournament. Flip Frenzy provides three hours of non-stop pinball action. The idea is to play as many games of pinball as possible and to have the best win/loss ratio at the end of the competition. Firstly, each machine is assigned randomly to two players. Players must play a genuine, competitive, three (or five ball) game of pinball to determine a winner and a loser. When the game is completed, without delay, both players are to go to the administration desk to report the result of their game. The winner scores a “win” and the loser scores “loss”. Regardless of result: • Player 2 goes to the back of the queue to await their next game assignment. • Player 1 returns to the same machine to play another game with the player at the front of the queue. The new player from the front of the queue becomes player 1 and the returning player becomes player 2. • After the game, the process is repeated. Results are reported, player two goes to the rear of the queue and player one returns to the same game to play as player two in a new game. Flip Frenzy - Other rules • Players who are absent from the queue when their number/name called will be recorded with a “loss” and placed at the back of the queue • All Flip Frenzy games must be played in a competitive spirit. Any collusion i.e. one-ball games) will result in disqualification from the event. • A player is free to end their ball if they think they have enough points to win, or plunge a ball if they want to concede. However, all balls must be played and the game must be in a GAME OVER state when the players leave the game. Turning a machine on/off to end a game is not allowed. • Any extra balls must not be played. Extra balls (if awarded) can be “skillfully plunged” i.e. you can line up a skill shot for points, but no attempt to flip the ball is allowed. • At the end of three hours, no more games may start. • Standings are based on net wins i.e. wins – losses = your score. The best score at the end of the competition is the winner. Cash prizes for the first three places. Flip Frenzy is an IFPA registered event. High Score on 3 Machines ($5 per card) From 1:00pm, you can purchase a playing card that entitles you to play 3 games on 3 machines. Only one playing card can be submitted for the high score competition. The highest weighted score is the winner. Cash prizes. 10. Hi Defender1980, Thanks for your message. Unfortunately, we are not quite ready to put up all the details as they are currently being finalised (UPDATE: please see first page of this thread). I hope to have a lot more information starting to appear on this site (and Big Boys Toys website) over the next few weeks. I can say that the event will be held at the Exhibition Park In Canberra (EPIC) on the 19th and 20th of August. More information on the location can be found at the EPIC website - apparently there are also camping facilities available (for those of you that want to brave the cold) at cheaper rates. I definitely agree that we want to really advertise our event so that the Australian pinball community is aware it is happening and that we get lots of people coming down to Canberra for the weekend to play. Last year we had over 80 competitors! If you could suggest any other ways I can promulgate the event, that would be awesome! I hope you will pass the message on and let others know about our big weekend? In the meantime, if you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me via this thread or directly on 0413322243. I hope to see you in Canberra in August! Pete
