I agree I think RGB is a massive step up and most consoles out there these days have an RGB kit/ mod that can be done.

Yep as mckie1 said some consoles do need modification for RGB output which can be cheap or expensive depending on your soldering levels. But I think going RGB is worth it. My recommendations is - Voultar for 1chip snes and snes jr/ famicom jr. pc engine duo family. - ETIM for n64, atari 2600, NES For other consoles look at retrorgb.com for help.

Lack of SCART input is a off putting feature for me

I have got the OSSC ver 1.5 and so far am finding it fine, possily going to get a ver 1.6 for extra input/outputs audio wise. If you think your going to have a RGB setup with more than 5 consoles than I think its a worthwhile investment.

Does the framemeister incl the RGB din > EUR scart adapter ?

You are probably best to look at this thoroughly and try and see if you can find any burn marks or voltage regulators that might have been melted as well as caps then go from there. Otherwise try hunting down a new console as I don't think someone will do it for under $20 and you got parts on top of that and as homepin said someone to properly diagnose it and make it sure thats the fault.
