  1. It was a little scary cutting the plastic, but i used a dremel roatary cutter and file to trim the plastics. The MB O/I plate was a very handy template to use for the area that needed removing fom the back. To mount the MB i pushed it frim into the backing plate and used a very fine drill bit to mark where the MB mount holes met the case. Then i drilled out the marks using a 5/32 drill bit and installed 5/32 x 25mm bolts and put hot glue ontop of the nuts once the MB was secured to prevent them from undoing. If you need anymore help or measuresment please contact me, i am awlays happy to help.
  2. It was a very hard choice to pull apart my childhood even though the NES i was using had not worked in 5 years. However if you can find a broken one, the dimensions are perfect for a mini itx MB, it would have been awesome to put a laptop dvd drive in where the game slot is but i thought it was more important to get a CPU that had its own cooling fan. Thanks once again for all of the comments
  3. Thanks for the replys, The two fans on the top of the case push air out of the orignal "convection" grate of the Nintendo. With the system up and running inside my TV cabniet i have not been able to get it any higher than 38 degrees acording to core temp. I am still moding the Maximus Arcade frontend, i will post some screen shots soon

  5. G'Day all, Well this project started when my brother in law wanted an arcade machine but had limited room to store one. After much thought we decided to turn two old unused and broken Nintendo boxes into two fully functional arcade machine. After about 3 weeks of on and off building (and waiting for mail order parts) we have the finished boxes.
  6. Thank you very much for the spec's on the machine. Where abouts did you buy the 12VDC sound reactive lighting controller from? i am very very interested.
  7. That is one sweet jukebox. Good attention to detail and using it for all different types of software. well done. What are you using to make the lights flash in your controller?
  8. Got my controller together today. They are only tempory installed. now i just need to find a 20 inch LCD monitor and i can do a dry install on that. Then comes the fun job of sanding and painting
  9. Thanks guys for all of your help. The project is slowly coming along. I have not been able to dedicate enough time to it. Does the place in Melbourne who sells 5V LEDS for arcade controllers have a website or contact details.
  10. I also have a question in regards to LED controllers. I am currently going to use 12V LEDs supplied from OZsticks for my push button configuration and i would like to do something like this with it I know led wiz does these boards but they only have a 5V output http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=239
  11. I Think i may have to go down the path of making my own keypad, thanks for the ideas you have really got the brain working now. As for the amp it is it is a home hi fi amp, so it is powered by 240VAC http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA0507&keywords=amp&form=KEYWORD The unit is really simple and easy to use. I was going to go down the path and use a car audio amp but then i would have to use a power supply that would convert 240VAC to 12VDC and hold a high enough current rating to power the amp. But after looking at static inverters it all got to expensive so i went with the home hi fi amp.
  12. Thanks guys, i like the look of those switchs from OZsticks. I was going to go with a touch screen but i now have a big pannel there waiting for the push buttons and i think it would look silly if i left it blank. As for the speakers they are from pure accoustics the forwards speakers are 2x tweeters 2x mid and 4x woofers with a 10 inch sub woofer from jay car. i also brough a home hi fi amp 150W RMS from jay car which should hopefully power the sub nicely. i am also fitting 4 120mm 240VAC cooling fans. 2 at the bottom pushing air directly onto the heat sink of the amp and 2 at the top to draw the air out of the unit. I will also have a center speaker installed in the top of the cabnet that will house 1x tweeter and 2 mid ranges. All the speaker will be powered by a 5.1 home hi fi amp that pushes 100W RMS per channel. I have already brought 4 15inch million colour led sticks with an infra red controller that will go behind the prespex pannels. there will be 2 in the front, 2 in the side and one inside the top speaker facing down over the control pannel. i will post more pictures as the job progresses.
  13. G'Day Guys, I have been reading your forum for a while now looking for ideas. I have just started my own jukebox and i keep running into a wall with a few things. 1- I am looking for a keypad similar to the one found in this RS catalog. however i need it to be bigger. Do you guys have any prefered suppilers that might be able to help me. http://australia.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=2508975788 2- I am also looking for the triangle and rectangle illuminating push buttons, but when ever i find them on the internet they do not have the sizes or spec on them. Anyway a little about the project. The jukebox will be a computer run program using Virtual Music Jukebox, I have already had this up and running on an old computer to make sure it had all of the functions that i wanted. It will have a 20 inch LCD monitor fitted with a 3.1 sound system. I have already brought the sub and amp from Jay Car and i am using a home audio amp to power the rest of the speakers. I have cheated with the speakers by pulling them apart and using there orignal components and volume. Hopefully the unit turns out to be alright. Thanks Guys Hutch
