  1. if that's where your mind went, reading that, then ok 😆
  2. it did trash the buttons a bit... I saw kids using lighters too. some center operators would tell you off for doing it and and we'd meekly put them back in pockets and get back to hammering away on them most inventive i saw was a kid that would come in with an electric toothbrush and a peg. so much speed for zero effort!
  3. I love the inventive 'finger rolling' method used on the underneath of the NES controller to combat the game's speed from L29 - and the fact all players around the world adopted that same method, wearing a single cotton glove to combat wear and tear on their fingers etc. Reminds me BITD me and mates using 20c coin containers on fingers and fast swiping on the run buttons to get mega speed on the Hyper Olympics Arcade machines...
  4. Amazing achievement by Bluescuti with this landmark NES game, especially in the face of fierce global competitiveness. This is a great video detailing the history of NES Tetris world record chasing.
  5. Wanted For homebrew project. I live Far south coast NSW but can travel to Sydney / surrounds or Canberra for pickup. if anyone has anything, drop me a pm ! cheers 👍
  6. I don't like multi installers to be honest... I think you don't learn much about how everything hangs together. I've only ever used it (baller) once, and it didn't work 🙄 64 bit is the default, the guide just mentions 32bit for anyone who didn't have a 64 bit system. there are still some people out there using 32 bit windows 😁 I think the PDF is way simpler. but, each to their own and whatever works for you, do that.
  7. Here is a great guide to installing VPX VR 64-Bit version. (attached PDF file) This is the clearest guide I found on getting going in VR with VPX. written by one of the guys from the VPXVR group. if you want to play wirelessly. Make sure you get the desktop and Quest app for wireless PC play 'Virtual Desktop'. It is a paid app ($20) but it does away with the need to use the horrible, outdated Oculus software . Virtual desktop is flexible, you can choose a range of codecs for performance or quality easily, and squeeze the best out of the hardware you own. Everything in VR performs better/smoother/higher detail wirelessly when you use virtual dekstop. Wirelessly All PC VR is better, not just VPX. You need (compulsory) a network setup capable of handling Gigabit wireless data streaming. Quest VR headsets (Q2, Q3) support Gigabit wireless streaming. You need a modem/router that handles Gigabit wireless streaming, and you'll also need your PC hard-wired (Gigabit LAN cable) to your modem. Once you have this setup, you'll never go back to wired again! the difference between gigabit cable and gigabit wireless isn't that dramatic when using quality streaming software like Virtual Desktop. Playing Half-Life Alyx at max quality settings wirelessly - that was my holy shit VR moment ! Recently Steam released their own version of pretty much the same wireless PCVR app, and it's free, called 'Steam Link'. I've not tested it in any meaningful way so far but i'll start checking it out soon and comparing the performance and quality to Virtual Desktop. I'm not expecting it will be as good, Virtual desktop is a mature app used widely by VR enthusiasts. How-to-install-VPX-VR-GL64-Visual-Pinball_231029_171456.pdf
  8. I don't know, it's too hard to diagnose from pictures I'm afraid. Just can't tell. I would move that spare ground plug so it isn't touching your terminal block, though. Wiring looks pretty shabby to be honest. Earth is Just wrapped around the plug. Not soldered nor heatshrinked.
  9. that bodged ground wire picture is a homespun ground extension wire. most likely done to suit the physical positions of other buttons in the same chain, positions that didn't suit the stock ground wire daisy chain. trace that single wire - where does it go? edit: have not used an ipac for so long, forgot that the terminal assignments are printed on the board of the ipac, so you don't need a diagram. just trace each terminal and ground. look for breaks especially at the plugs.
  10. you should have two ground common cables for each player that connects all ground terminals for joystick and buttons connected to the ipac. check the ground connection against the iPac diagram (find it online), and make sure it is in the right terminal. it doesn't matter if there is a plug in the ground cable in the middle not connected to anything (as long as there isn't a break in the ground cable) to me it sounds like a ground problem but if you have Another USB cable try that too. windows shouldn't need any additional drivers for an ipac. just trace each connection using ipac diagram And prove that is ok or not, first.
  11. As described. Brand new in Box, never used, comes with microswitches and mounting screws. $35 including post.
  12. Just removed from working Jamma 2 player Upright Challenger Cab. Inc USB and VGA Cables. $70 including post to anywhere
  13. I've been using my CX for a little while with a big old Grundig CRT and have come around a bit to the Pandora. I like how fast it is to boot, how fast games load and exit, easy to save progress in many systems. the menu system isn't bad, and easy to add games and media like video previews etc. sortable by genre and pretty much everything I've added runs well. one annoying thing is I can't get any game pads working via the usb ports at all - except for my Hori arcade CP... but I know this is meant to be for jamma cabs. if anyone has done some magix to get game pads functioning on a pandora CX, lemme know!
  14. i know this reply is 8 months later but I still have the image I made, was looking through some old hdd's in a tub and found one. if you still want to try it, send me a pm just replying to this for anyone who has the same issues with their games family hdd. if you have a jamma wired cab, just get a pandora. so much simpler, better interface, add games / Samples etc via SD. these games family systems were a $^^$&* nightmare of spaghetti 🍝 menus and hodgepodge windows fu*kery ! you will save your sanity in the long run!
  15. done and dusted, thanks heaps to Nathan for a lightning quick and really great deal. Highly reccomended seller two thumbs up 👍👍
  16. The mancave needs a black box for cockpit racing, my 13 year old laptop is struggling to cope 😆 so I'm after an older, cheaper PC that I can throw a 1070GTX in, sitting a drawer doing nothing. It doesn't need to have a PSU or GPU. I have some retro stuff to trade (PS1 with some games, modded XBOX360 with HDD of games) or cash negotitation. Message me if you would like to offload something my way. Happy to pay postage etc (I'm in far south coast NSW) Thanks!
  17. Cheers for that ! Retropie supports many different versions of Mame, as long as there's a Linux distro for it, you can easily install it via Retroarch online updater - then use the 'use alternate emulator' option within emulation station at the rom level, and assign it there. So easy compared to many other platforms ! Thanks for that info and the message, I would like to get the set 1 Rom working again for sure, it's the one I'm used to for so many years !
  18. thanks heaps for that detailed reply! I have solved it a few days ago, I've used pc's and/or Pi for all my Arcade projects in the past, but never used a Pandora Box, I would rate it the least friendly of anything for tweaking and getting stuff working. for the sake of the Aussie Arcade search, I'll detail what I did here to get it working in case it might help others. The issue was the set version of Berzerk, and the version of the sample, which i just solved with trial and error. Jbtech has said similar above in a lot more detail with technical explanation with rom dumps. The Pandora Box CX has directory structures for Mame 2003 and MAME 2010, though I read somewhere it also utilised 0.78 (the same mobile chipset rom set used with Pi's and Andoid phones etc) But to put it simply to get Berzerk working properly with the Pandora Box CX (this probably applies to the DX as well) you need to use Set 2 of the Berzerk Rom and the 189k Sample. (there is also a 209k sample. Might be more samples out there, but I've only ever had these two samples in my archive for all my projects) This is a bit of a bugger....cause the set 2 Berzerk rom was updated from set 1 to make the dreaded Otto much harder. He is HEAPS faster, esp when no robots left on screen. With the set 1 rom, if you had a head start on Otto, you could always outrun Otto to the exit for an easy level up. Not so with the set 2 rom! That little f*cker is FAST. The compromise is the robots don't get as hard, as quick ie it takes longer for the really fast shooting robots to appear. meaning you can score like you did with the set 1 rom, but soon as Otto appears, you might need to blow off some screens without finishing them just to escape Otto. Just on the Pandora box CX. For similar money you can get a Pi and the Pi is HEAPS better and more flexible when used with RetroPi (a combination of Retroarch and EmulationStation) the Pi also runs stuff like Midway (NBA Jam etc) roms at full speed. Even the Max Hangtime edition but The CX doesn't. Even Megadrive emulation on the CX is not super smooth with some classic Megadrive titles like Ghosts and Goblins. it's dropping frames everywhere. I read about an app called Pandory that you can fix a lot of the issues the Pandora box has with accurate emulation but just get a Pi and and Xinmo or zero delay interfaces, So much better 🙂
  19. Been messing around with Pandoras Box CX and I've added some missing Mame classics like Berzerk, Joust (seriously wtf how are these games missing in the first place) also the great ATP Tour tennis for Megadrive but I'm getting distracted. My main question is If anyone knows how to add samples for Berzerk so they work please let me know. I've added to everywhere I can find mame or sample folders, but berzerk still has no sound and it's unplayable without the speech.... TIA
  20. Want to sell this as a bundle, i wont seperate out parts. Best value to buy the Bundle. ASUS ROG STRIX Nvidia Geforce 1070 GTX 8GB - excellent condition The Nvidia 1070 GTX Plays games at 1080p on high settings, great card for VR too. The RGB has been disconnected - this is related to the purely cosmetic lightshow that GPU's seem to have these days. You can use this site to compare GPU's to see how the 1070 GTX stacks up: https://www.gpucheck.com SATE Bronze ATX 650 watt power supply - this suits the 1070 GTX perfectly and provides plenty of headroom without being too overpowered. Used for 6 months otherwise new condition TP Link PCI Wifi Card - 300 Mbps max speed. Model TL-WN881ND 4GB (2x 2GB) DDR3 Laptop Ram - ELPIDA 2GB PC3-8500S-7-10-F1 DDR3 $250 including postage for the lot.
  21. SOLD - I can't figure out how to mark as sold sorry.
  22. I can't figure out how to mark something as sold anymore - these instructions no longer valid ? There isn't a sold option in the prefix only tags now ? What am I missing...
  23. I go there for Pi every time, they are really excellent ! Great support too and the cheapest Pi around. Sadly very hard to get 3B+ or 3B anymore for a long time, due to the worldwide silicon shortage. Core said they may have more midyear, but then they limit to 1 per customer per month.
