  1. Yeah thats basically the convo we had over email about it
  2. Isn't turning on at all, had a thread in the repairs section asking about options. I have spoken to Jomac about sending it over for repair ( ), but figured would ask around in case I could find something working around here while I take it out and send the chassis over to be looked at.
  3. He wasn't sure if I had fried it or if there was something wrong with the chassis. Said best option would be to send it over to him to have a look at.
  4. Hey all, looking for a 26" monitor for my knock off candy cab, and if I can't get a 26" arcade monitor or CRT of some sort, I have figured a 30" LCD thats 16:10 will fit and give me the same screen area. I currently have a 26" arcade monitor but unsure if its busted or not so needing something to replace that. Thanks!
  5. Just double checked where the power cord connects to the board, definitely 110V AC. There is a 250V 2A quick blow fuse just above it on the board that did blow and I replaced that and had a sparky mate check that the step down was pumping out 110V so thats all gravy but didn't check at the actual board so will do that this weekend. I've got a mate who's an electrical engineer who said he will have a look at the board and see if there is anything that jumps out but he doesn't have any experience with these things so all he will be able to do is point out what capacitors might need replacing etc. Might be a Jomac refurb chassis time from the looks of it. Update: Took some additional photos, did some more searching and it seems Jomac has commented on this brand of tube before, so will send him an email to see what he thinks.
  6. So recently picked up an astro clone (Black Thunder II) from a local auction after not having a machine for years. Got it for cheap, cabinet needs a little clean up but overall its alright. Main problem appears to be the monitor. When I first got it home we saw the monitor was unplugged and plugged it into the multi-pin powerboard we could see as we couldn't see the step down transformer hidden behind the coin bucket as we didn't have the cam lock keys to unlock everything and check properly. Not my best move but hey, got a little too excited. Anyway, could feel that the monitor was firing based on the static I could feel off the face but no picture. Figured there just must be an issue with the computer and didn't think any more of it. Anyway, finally took all the cam locks off and saw the step down and realised I had made a mistake. So checked that the step down was providing 110v and then plugged the monitor in and nothing. No static feel from the front of the monitor and the neck isn't lighting up, so I presume I've fucked the board/chassis. I've tried figuring out what kind of chassis it is to no avail, but it did come with a couple of stickers found in the bottom of the cabinet that talk about it, one just a general warning sticker but one that appears to give at least some of the specs of the monitor. Size wise it appears to be around 27", I measured 680mm diagonally across Guess the question is, does anyone know what kind of chassis this is? And if not, does it look like its possible to get either a new jomac universal chassis or a refurb chassis from somewhere that will get this sorted and up and running again. I've attached below pictures of the boards on the neck, as well as the main board and stickers.
  7. I can do that now. I have a dodgy little fight pad that i got with blaz blue for ps3(my ps3 will be the guts of this cab, its JB and has mame up and running on it, meaning I will be able to not only play classics but play the new stuff too) but its just not the same. I have an old tv here that I think I will end up using, its a 68cm and should do nicely. Going to model the cab off spot's woody candy cabs, really like the look of them.
  8. A pedestal build was on the cards at one point, but then I realised it would take up more space than an arcade cab, simply because I dont have much spare cash right now(heading to europe at the end of the year) and to make one that would be the same size, I would need to buy an LCD tv(I dont own one, have a projector for that :P)
  9. I am actually hoping to build this time. The place where I moved into has a large shed and my housemate has some tools and such so we are going to give building one a try :) But that is VERY similar to the cab I was talking about. We are stilling tossing up what design to go for, to either go for something like that and use an old LCD monitor(the biggest we can find that we already own that is in 4:3 is a 20" unfortunately) or build a candy cab like the ones elvis? built ages ago and use an old tv for the monitor.
  10. Well its been about 18 months or so since I last owned an arcade machine, and have since moved back to cairns and have started my new job and such. Finally, I have decided to take the plunge and build a new arcade machine. I didn't build my old one(bought an empty cab off a member on here actually) and was looking around cairns for a cheap cab. Found one guy a bit back that was selling cabinets, but he was wanting a bit more than I was willing to pay(mind you, all the cabs he had were working just minus boards, which is sort not what I wanted, was just wanting an empty cab) so I put the idea off for a bit. Now its time to take the plunge(btw, if anyone in cairns or the surrounding area knows of where I can get an empty cab for real cheap let me know). So I now have a few questions, sorry if they break any rules, havent been on here for a while. 1) There was a german? guy that made an arcade cabinet for his apartment ages back, was orange, but the main thing about it was it wasnt as deep as a normal upright. I have been looking all over for the site but I cannot find it, does anyone remember this site/cab and have a link? It is similair to what I want to do(due to room constraints). 2) Are the discs that have all the roms and chds still floating around? I have an old copy somewhere, but they are roughly 2yrs old so are very out of date.
