What happened here. Some serious Banana throwing and vehicle nudging lets RusstyT run the red light, hit the super charger and take the podium as the Aussie Arcade VPGL KIngPin. Crackers took the lead early with a super 220Mill and this was to limp home with a flat tyre for a well deserved 2nd place. With a late start and lots of work in the pit and switching to the fire retardant jump man suit,Kane managed to get his car on the track for track test 3rd spot. What a fantastic game and wonderful way to finish the 2024 VPGL Thankyou to all involved in the VPGL and all the best for the year ahead. Russ

When it comes to playing Tiger don't mess with the Tasmanian Tiger. A huge game by Kane exceeding the total score of the other cubs scores combined heralds him as the undisputed Aussie Arcade Tiger champion. Congratulations mate. 2nd place goes to RusstyT pipping Crackers in another classic EM Kombucha fired Duel. The mysterious Richard.m continues with another solid performance but alas no Brabury today. This brings and end the Double Dipping Tournament and what can I say.... If you are holding a party don't invite RusstyT because he is proven to be a serious double dipper. He pips Kane to be the DoubleDip champion while the ever consistent Crackers has proven to also be a serious double dipper. On the other hand, Richard.m ....the very mysterious Richard.m is worthy of a party invitation. No recycled saliva in the French onion dip from this fellah. 🙂 So this brings the end the Current 2024 VPGL2024 Tournament and a last ditched effort in Tiger gives the 2 points He needed to take the podium, do a shoey and bask in the glory as the Aussie Arcade 2024VPGL Champion. Congratulations Kane you have set the standard for the last couple of years. So close Crackers..consistent to the end and a well deserved 2nd place as the most constant competitor the VPGL since I joined 4 years ago. RusstyT narrowly pips the Mysterious Richard.m for 3rd. On the back of some fantastic games played this year and a bumper time in VPX development I sign off as the VPGL co-ordinationor and say thankyou to everyone who has competed and to @Arcade King for providing a place to host the Virtual Pinball Gaming league. All the best and I'll keep the VPX updates section up to date. Thankyou Russ
  3. Learnt and interesting thing about VisualBasic used in VPX. If you are using 32bitVPX this will be an issue TasteyWasps wrote: "I get the extra lag even when I'm playing for a decent amount of time. (not just the table sitting idle) Maybe a half hour or so where play might get intense with multiball and modes? It's like it builds on itself. (possible memory leak behavior)" I can understand possible lag during those crazy modes based on PC specs (although I think mine are OK) but the lag seems to persist even when the game goes to a one ball mode or even restarting the game without reloading the game through VPX. Just info for the curious as it's hard to explain the laggy behavior since it is very intermittent. I asked him about this and his reply. That post above from me was back when using 32 bit. I've never had that happen again after moving to 64 bit so I think we are good on that front.

OOh man. That was some crazy driving. With 4 extra balls it was like I was born in Chernobyl, running on vodka fumes and dodging bananas......wooo that don't make sense....I'll have another vodka. Ah Much better.... Like I was saying 6 extra balls and oil slicks everywhere, sheep on the road and this little guy in front of me who looks like super Mario launching bananas and chuckling like Svetlana on her wedding day. As I passed the little guy with the red hat and oversized moustache I glanced over my shoulder. Just as I suspected..That guy's Crakkers. Hehehee. Jokes aside this is the 2nd time of got this game going. It's a tough one. My best is 366K
  5. Interesting on my big cab with a 1070ti graphics card and 120Hz 1ms playfield i was getting significant frame tearing in the gi strobe parts of the Getaway Highspeed2. It made no difference with pin affinity was running or not. To overcome this I reduced the texture quality from unlimited to 7280 (something like that) and turned off ambient occlusion. To compensate there is a picture sharpen algorithm that chews little processor and works well with the filmic tone mapping for the table lights. This give a really nice result. Rich sharp colours and contrast but doesn't have the depth of reflection. Funny I didn't have this problem on Doctor Who or legacy of the beast on both my machines. @Crakkers and I did some tests around sharpening and tone mapping a couple of weeks ago and were quite impressed with the result and couldn't see that it affected machine performance. This will sound like a lot of gobbly gook if you not using the software but there are lots of tweaks in VPX 10.8. PS The things I did MJRoberts the author of pin Affinity recommends if frame tearing occur.

I 'm having trouble tracking the ball in this one when the super charger activates, and red line mania. I get the stutters. I turned off unlimited texture and occlusion al lighting. Not as pretty but still very nice. Nice in 10.8 that you can set settings per table from the editor.

290K 🤔Out of the mario cart and throwing a few bananas here @Crakkers I suspect you have been drink driving and you'll have to face the committee and defend your case.😂

I think you've got a bit more in you crackers. I'm out of suspension and back on the field fresh as a daisy.I think Kane will have a field day. Every 30K you get an extra ball.
  9. Interesting info. I guess you don't have to have PinAffinity to run at log in if you have a multipurpose machine. You can start it before running a game. on the i5 1060 super it runs pup pacs (I think its VLC media player) and the sound files no problem.
  10. pheeeew! Thanks needle bat. I was thinking my 1060 experiment was a dud. Totally didn't expect such a good result on a 60Hz 4K Screen. it's areal joy to play. I also had in the back of my mind that VPX only using one core of the processor so it didn't matter if you got an i7 or i5. I now think the cpu does matter if using Pin affinity. I used to think a minimum 120Hz screen was necessary for ball tracking its not the case when using PinAffinity. I still think the higher picture density (nits) of a screen does give a deeper richer playfield and the ambient occlusion is eye popping, but you can still get a really good playfield with a 4K 60Hz 250 nits (Candella/cm^2). This has demystified a lot of the frames per second and latency is king for ball tracking. There is another way.

Kane continues his prowess in the theme parked games to take roller coaster tycoon. Congratulations mate and taking the lead in this years overall competition. Crackers takes 2nd with RusstyT receiving a two match ban for bring the game into disrepute.

TX Sector is closed and Crackers has prevailed as the solid state champion in this years mixed triples. Congratulations Cracker in pipping the fiesty Tasmanian Kane in a well deserved 2nd spot. Pyramid is closed and congratulation to Kane taking first, Crackers 2nd, Richard .m taking the podium in 3rd and disgraced RusstyT failing the urine A & B tests and relegated to 4th spot. Also a huge congratulations to Kane taking out the mixed triples. Crakkers has a well deserved 2nd and Richard.m takes the podium in 3rd with RusstyT receiving a 2 match ban. In the overall standings we see Kane & Crackers tied for first place and the mysterious Richard.m doing a bradbury and currently looking podium worthy in 3rd place. Not enough can be said about russtyt's disqualification in Pyramid and 2 match ban. This could be career ending for man from iron and steel country.
  15. Holy Smokin Duckshit. I had a huge break through with the game quality thanks to MJ Roberts Pin Affinity program. I also learnt something important about frame rate rendering, latency and frame tearing. The Pin Affinity program did nothing noticeable to me to improve latency and rendering speed but the difference with reduced frame tearing on this supposedly underpowered system is incredible. Ball tracking is so much better. I have to admit that I was disappointed with all the work and dollar bucks put into the machine and was looking at new 120Hz 4K screens. Thank goodness I don't need to go down that path. I ran two games that were hard to track the ball and ran the F11 test... Iron Maiden Legacy of the beast and Doctor Who both suffered from ball stutter. This is no longer the case with Pin Affinity. So the machine runs a 4K 60Hz monitor on a 1060 super Graphics card, i5 processor, PinAffinty dedicates the pinball programs to the first 3 cores of the processor and lets windows use the other 2. I followed his procedure and set it up to run in the background at startup with full administration rights. Cowabunga! The improvement is what he calls reduced frame tearing something I never hear on the forums. I have to say that looking at the VPinballX 10.8 (Press F11 twice) the script and physics computation spike noticeably but the VPinballX smoothing of these characteristics works really nice and I can see this in graphs and the games. There still is very occasional tearing start of multiball in doctor who. I'm happy and wouldn't have a problem selling the machine on now that I know this is very minor and it is really nice build. This is the game performance graph at startup. Frames/sec doesn't vary much. Some spikes in physics and script computation and you can see with the light orange lines how VPX10.8 smooths these out. Fantastic with Pin Affinity that the Pinball execution doesn't have to sit in a round robin cue with the rest of the windows stuff This is the performance graphs at ball launch. Again no change in FPS and the smoothing of the physics and script is quite noticeable. I'm so impressed with the work the VPX developers have done. If anyone is interested press F11 and this is what you can now get in Pinball X 10.8 I have to set the screen calibration for where my head is relative to the cab. Games are adjusted to these setting for individual player. To find the guide search VPX10.8 Beta POV calibration guide. I'm relieved. i know I've got a really good build. Took a punt and jumped in the deep end and I'm learning so much and demystifying some of the 60Hz, 120Hz graphics power requirements stuff. Obviously a higher framer rate, deeper nits and faster graphics computation are going to give a better result but this is still pretty damn good. Comments welcome 🙂
  16. Thats pretty nifty. I think crackers might have made something like that with an iPad

The second game in VPGL2024 Competition3 Double trouble is the Getaway High Speed II nominated by VPin gaming legend and man of mystery Richard.m Steve Ritchie worked his magic with two artists, Mark Sprenger and Doug Watson to produce this legendary Williams game which was released in 1986 with 13,259 units. There are plenty of versions of this game out there and players can playing any version or the real cab if they have one . Game1 competition3 in the VPGL 2024 is Gottliebs' Tiger nominated by VPGL 2023 champion Kane...The Tassie tiger 😁 Tiger was released in in 1975 designed by Ed Krynski and Artwork by Gordon Morrision. Hauntrfreaks provides us with both a backglass and the game which are available at VPUniverse. The game closes on midnight Sunday 17-3-24 The game can be found here https://vpuniverse.com/files/file/17802-tiger-gottlieb-1975-v20/ The backglass can be found here https://vpuniverse.com/files/file/17801-tiger-gottlieb-1975-b2s/
  20. Been a few weeks. When I get all the games adjusted and front end working I'll sell it on. It's taken me 4 years to work out that not many people can build a machine and online sellers are so dodgy. I'm hoping someone will buy a bargain and join us in the VPGaming League. I just want to cover my costs nothing for the labour. It will be around $3500 after I do the decals. and backglass cover. See what happens.
  21. Just to complete the picture for this build this the Pincab complete with the new perspex backglass with speaker covers installed. This is such a good way to make a virtual pincab. So much easier to build with an old cab. Always lots of problem solver but a lot less work than building from scratch. Appropriate that I use the Flinstones because this is the game I saw on You tube 4 years ago that inspired me to build my first cab. @Yogo built his attack from Mars cab at the same time.
  22. Finished the side rails. I filed the edges off and blended the contours into the lockdown bar. 180, 240,400, grit sand paper( I use wet and dry paper), etch primed and finished with a chrome paint. Put the Tee moulding on which came today. I have put black trim on the bottom side to reduce the amount of wood that can be seen. I'll do some decals for the cab based on the Timelord cab. This is my design that I used for the Timelord virtual reality pinball game It is modern stern dimensioned so I'll have to adjust the graphics for the cab. For those who don't know Timelord was a game that started in Aussie arcade and had involvement from some of our virtual pinball group including, Crakkers, Mozzie & Joe Soap and great table builders including JPSalas, Oqqsan, Rawd, GedankekoJote and callouts by Queenslander FrankieT. The game has been in Top 10 downloads on VPUniverse for the past year. What a buzz . I have speaker covers on order and I'll order a perspex cover for the backglass from the guy who does my decals and that will complete the build. I'm now adjusting all the games to the the full BackGlass DMD format and making use of the fantastic film mapping that is now available in VPinballX 10.8 The contrast between plastics and playfield gives an eye popping 3D affect. This is the backglass I fitted to my new full sized machine today. The speaker casing will be square on the mini cab. I've done design work on air ventilation and vacuum extraction system. I know the cabinet design is poorly designed with the air coming up at the bottom of the cabinet and turning a corner above the PC and exiting through the back of the cab. But there are 6 fans 4 running at 12V so I'm compensating with sledgehammer engineering. 😂Ideal would be t put the finger chompers at the front either side of the coin door but I might end up a bit shosrter in the meat and potato region. 😂 There's a cpu temperature monitoring app as well I use on my big cab. I should install that. Its weird that Windows use the CPU temperature as protection measure but doesn't provide a readout. This is weird considering all the overclocking and stuff people do with PC's. Appreciate the comments.....Ooooh what will my wife say if she catches me burning incense and watching it flow through the cab?????? mmmm
  23. There are two fans at the front of the casing so the will draw air in at that pointing blow air across the graphics card. I'll have to let off a smoke bomb and see what's happening. 😂Air gets messed up pretty quick.
