Awesome ! Every now and again those customs need to be cleaned and reseated. Also pays to inspect the socket pins while the chips are out incase a pin is pushed too far into the socket. If the pcb starts flagging anything red, I always go back and inspect those customs. As they'll give off false errors if not seated properly or the sockets are worn/damaged. Another good practice is to inspect the solder side of the pcb and make sure no legs are bent over and touching another solder point/connection (especially around the roms) as that'll make the board act funky. As also mentioned from others suss out ya power supply and make sure the pcb is getting a good solid +5 volts as anything less can cause the board to boot n crash/reset. Cheerz

I've cleared up strange issues in the past by taking a cotton tip drenched in ipa and cleaning the custom sockets (removed alot of black crap). I'd suss each custom chip's legs to see if any bent , as reseating a custom with a bent pin can cause funky issues. If it's a 4mb pcb, the sockets the daughter board connects into if not seated correctly or dirty can cause ue13 or roms to flag bad also. Damaged sockets on the customs can cause issues or ue13 to flag bad also. Cheerz

Greetings, gonna take a stab and say ya 2 custom chips gonna need reseating (ub21, uf5) will require a plcc tool, or ue13 has a loose leg (possible during transit) thats gonna need reflowing. Cheerz

One problem solved, another one appears: wiggles. SOLVED
dime666bag replied to Polish-Jack's question in Monitor and Chassis Repair Help
If you go to his latest video on YouTube, at the start he'll mention a contactable email address which I believe is based for his repairs (though a very busy man) . If ya located within Australia (which I'm assuming not) Joey at Jomac is the guru here. Cheerz -

I'm wondering if C51 is on the fritz.. can cause all sorts of groovy issues. I'd pull it and check in capacitance mode on ya multimeter, round about 0.68- 0.70 uf (does have polarity). Otherwise Mike's the guru on all k7000 stuff. Cheerz -
Rebuilt and tube swapped a k7000. Having hold issues.

@Slypinball long story but got a couple of 59cm tubes (from lai cabs) I need to pull out & into some sort of monitor frame rig to do some adjustments and convergence work (had to do tube & yoke/chassis replacements) Limited to space and eyesight to be doing the work behind & inside the cabs. My mistake, thought I could get away with tracking down a 25" k7000 frame. Can take some pics and send em if it helps out. Appreciate the response. Cheerz

Greetings all.. bit of a long shot, but would anyone have a spare 25" / 64cm monitor frame & chassis plate, or similar monitor frame they wouldn't mind parting with ? Needed for a rig set-up & would need to be posted to Adelaide SA, US postage is getting outta hand lol . Appreciate any help. Cheerz

What's best way to strip covering
dime666bag replied to Potostew42's question in Arcade Technical and Repair
Going by the pics and looking identical to the crap I've removed from control panel boxes and cabs, imo I'd go with some citrustrip or orange peel (as the dudes that sold citrustrip here seems to have branded orange peel also) Its very mild just follow the timing instructions. Bunnings have one called Tricleanium, but I can't vouch for that as I've never used it. Iso and magic eraser may take you alot of elbow grease and time, and I'd feel it might get too aggressive as you get towards the final layer of primer b4 the artwork . Iso's good to get a quick clean or a stubborn spot off . Again just what ive experienced and worked with, always good to get a list of ideas and opinions from everyone and do small test spots Cheerz -
What's best way to strip covering
dime666bag replied to Potostew42's question in Arcade Technical and Repair
Not sure exactly what the og decals and sideart where made from, but I have an open ice cabinet that had almost 3mm or so of primer and colour paint over it. 2 applications with inbetween cleaning of citrustrip got it back to the og artwork that was applied directly over sanded & clear coated wood. Worked well over any coloured artwork but was a little rough on anything white (had a shit tonne of primer adhered to the white sections). Id try everyone's recommendations in small test spots to see reactions/aggressiveness. Simple green works wonders to remove and clean residue/stripped sludge too. Cheerz -

If you can get a hold of it , I'd recommend Citrustrip & try a test spot. Messy but works if applied correctly. Glides right off with a plastic painter's scrapper (depending on the thickness of the top layer) Just be sure to clean the stripped area well as it can slowly penetrate into the og artwork. Cheerz -
MGL55 - Game 12 ~ Mortal Kombat (closes 28-May)
dime666bag replied to OOO's topic in MGLLV - GENESIS OF THE ARCADE
Little cheesy tale to add to the thread... Must've been 95/96 at the time, young dumb ass me around 9 or 10 at the time, standing behind a dude and his girlfriend trying to impress her with his skills at Tea Tree Plaza Timezone . Turns around offers to pay for the fight.... got the win 2 outta 3 AND somehow instinctively pulled Scorpion's fatality off all from only gameboy and master system experience lol. Gave me an odd disgruntled look and left, pretty sure after I had a couple more rounds from my pocket money and got my ass handed to me from the AI. Proud moment. -
Imo..... i would remove the neckboard from the tube or if possible remove the chassis entirely from the frame & tube.. Take out any glass as well. And ratchet strap down the cabinet hard up against the front of the trailer/tray laying down or upright, depending on the terrain you're going across of the tray/trailer... And stuff bubble wrap or insulation around the neck of the tube. I've transported an lai cab across a half hour plus main shitty road with no issues with everything attached ( I guess I was lucky/naive at the time) . Your main objective is to separate the neckboard from the crt tube. Each to their own I guess. Cheerz.
