  1. Well AceJay's picked up most the gear, it's sad to see it all go but I reckon it couldn't be a better bloke taking it. They're yours mate, AceJay's had no use for them and knew you wanted them. A tad hard to pick up this week sorry mate, though I can take them into the city if you wish. If you wish to pick up during the day then I can leave out at the front door (which isn't visible from the street, otherwise anytime is fine. no particular rush. Anything I have left that is free I'll post in the appropriate section. Btw AdamC sorry about the card, Acejay took it as part of everything else. I'll have a hunt around and see what I have spare, it's quite possible that I have a spare card somewhere else (got a PC I plan on retiring sometime, pretty sure it has a AGP ATI in it). Were you after only AGP?
  2. Hey AceJas, no worries, you have first dibs. I forgot about the size of the tubes and bezels, something I ment to do. If it helps I actually have a TV that is a diff size (a lot larger). The tubes are: 20 inch 23 inch (not 100% certain as it was upside down but it's either 22 or 23) The bezzels are: 23 inch 19 inch 19 inch The tube that has the 'frame' is designed to mount in the cab, it actualy fits real snug, I can show a pic if you like or you can come over. I'm near that big ass Ikea south side just off the M1 so not so bad for a Gold Coast Lad :) Umm the dims for the cab are 940mm by 550mm (top without the lid on), while the height without the lid is 700mm. Please note that I did make a top but failed cause I did it 50mm too short, so another needs to be made. but I do have the template and measurements required to make it. The cab is designed to fit through standard doorways with room to spare. One reason why the two player control panel is designed to come off, I didn't wish to not be able to put it in my house (which has bloody narrow doors). So it's a tad bigger than a tatio or similar cocktail cab, but at the same time it's not too large to move around a house. Your more than welcome to drop by to see all the gear mate, and of course I'm happy to provide any tips that I've picked up during the build. Btw I have spare computers and hdd's and stuff here, happy to throw it in with the lot as well. ahh good point mate, that was a mistake, I didn't mean to post that with this lot. The flight control panel is from a cab I brought a few years back. It was an old laser disk based game. I ended up hacking the cab up for bits as no one was interested in buying it (it was a big bugger of a sit down cab and while rare, was a pretty crap game). Umm... it's really seperate from the lot, though only if acejas agrees or decides not to get the lot (as it's kinda implied from the pics that it's included). Happy to part with it for umm say $40. Though buggered if I know how i would get it to WA, weighs a tonne and a half it does! Again conditional on Acejas and I hadn't really planned to post anything that heavy.
  3. I'll put you down for card (I presume the free one), the fans are with the cab for now, however if I have to sell individually I'll have to work out a price. If I cannot sell as a lot the free graphics card is yours.
  4. G'day all, I havn't been around much cause of various things. Work has been getting very demanding and I've been learning french. Also there is the possibility of moving overseas for work in the future and what with looking after students I just dont have the time and space to spend on this hobby :( I've kinda held onto the gear for the last year hoping things will improve but I've finaly decided to face reality. Hopefully in a couple of years I'll finally get that gauntlet cab I've always wanted, maybe a LW pinnie as well. So now down to business... I have for sale the complete gear needed to build a cab from scratch (minus glass and wood, depending on what you wish to build), I also am providing my incomplete mame cab that is of a table top design. If you would like an individual item let me know and I'll mark it reserved for you in here. However I would like to hold the sale open for about a week before selling individualy in case someone who would like to buy it as a complete package. I would be over joyed if I could help some eager new beginner into the realm of arcade ownership (even if it is a replicant or mame cab). Note that if I do sell individually then some items will be free as they were given to me for free. I will not sell anything that was given to my by the generosity of others on this forum. Anything that requires boxing will not be posted. So if you cannot do a local pick up please check with me first. If it comes down to individual items then I'm happy to post the small stuff, I'll just charge you whatever the aussie post site says the cost is based on weight and size. Also note that the computer provided doesn't include any mame software or games that I'm aware (been a while since I last turned it on) but I will provide a ligit license of XP if you need (would recommend however going the linux path, note that it may have linux on it, though it may have xp as well, not sure). 1 x mame cocktail cabinent, unique design in that all sides have the same exact angle. black vinyl already fitted, except for one side which was removed and then reapplied to fix blemish. In addition to the above I have black angle aluminium anodised black for the edges. Already cut four lengths for the sides of cabinet (havn't fitted yet as vinyl wasn't complete), size is 25mm x 25mm. Also have smaller 15mm x 15mm black angle aluminium anodised black for the control panel edges. This has not been cut yet. If you buy the complete stuff, you'll also get some other extra's that is getting a tad too extream to list). I know that there is a free section but as it's a mix I thought I would post it here, if that is a problem let me know. I do have some other stuff, mainly computer gear and some hardware, but I'll post that in the give away section as it's not really required for this cab. Remember folks, the above is everything you need for a mame sit down table top cab except the glass. Oh I should mention that the patterns I used to cut the corners, curves and the recesses for joysticks will be included in the cab. Also I'll throw some wood in free to finish off the top. I'll provide the plans that I have left to help in finishing off the cab. It's a shame to see this go, but in all honesty I just don't have the time right now what with work being crazy, learning french and so on. I do hope someone would like this all as one lot, only because it will help someone to get started. If you want the above but without the cab as you wish to build your own, then put in a post and I'll see waht I can do. However please note that the cab alone price above is based on the cost of the fittings, I've not tried to include the cost of the wood. <edit> Just realised, I havn't posted pictures, posting them now. more pics... and more pics...

  7. :( bugger. I was hoping someone here went and could add some details. could have been a cheap pickup or maybe not.

  11. I'm not sure what one of those is. :unsure To have metalslug 2 wouldn't that mean it's a neo geo or did metal slug games come in non neo geo cabs as well?
  12. Will this do? "A man walks into a restaurant, orders albatross, takes one bite, and kills himself. Why?" Your not allowed to use Google to solve the problem. As for a complex puzzle that is not too expensive I would recommend looking at second hand shops or garage sales for jigsaw puzzles, they're always challenging and second hand are quite cheep. And you get the added bonus of trying to figure out how to solve it with missing pieces! Another option is to check out any local markets. There's some local markets here and there is always a stall selling a tonne of physical puzzles that are reasonable in price and quite difficult to solve.
  13. I would have thought that overdrafts or credit cards are facilities that provide pre arranged credit whenever you desire with preset limits. Of course people who cannot get credit cards or overdrafts may need places like cash converters but then these are the types of people who are at high risk of not repaying and as such almost certain to not reclaim whatever they put up for hock. I know what your trying to say mate and understand where your comming from, but I just see pawn brokers as a lower form of evil than banks, I tend to put them in the same area as one arm bandits.
  14. Not comparing apples to apples mate. A bank provides a loan based on the assessment that you can pay it back. If you do not then they have to go through the process of recovering the money from the person who doesn't pay up. Cash Converters and similar require something to be put down to allow the 'loan'. If the money isn't returned (plus interest) they keep the item. All quite okay if the interest a reasonable amount. The problem I have is that a) the interest on these 'short term loans' is crazy and b) I suspect that a lot of the time they loan out money at a fraction of the price of the object being hocked knowing that a large percentage of people will never come back for it. Basically they're buying the item at an incredibly undervalued amount. So either way they win, unlike a bank which whlie will normaly will, may not not win. Sorry mate, cannot see how you can bash banks as a way to support cash converters.
  15. yeah suprised me too, I googled last night and found out that they do 250V switches now. I did a c-bus prototype for an apartment building on the gold coast once, man was easy to work with! Was going the whole HVAC, lift control, resturant ordering and light control route. Would have been sweet but in the end the boss wasn't willing to spend more on R&D without a commitment from the client. The client didn't want to commit until something closer to market was demonstrated. dammit!:x
  16. When I moved up to brissy from melbourne I was suprised how small the trading post is up here. In Melb the Trading Post is such a tradition! Man I remember reading it and seeing trams for sale, red telephone boxes for sale, etc. I always wanted to buy an old red rattler to make into a house! Does anyone know how it fairs in Melb? Doesn't surpise me that it's dying here in brissy, the weekendshopper seems to be far more popular from people I talk to.
  17. :lol it surely will not be pretty. I suspect sideways. :o
  18. I found out that my ex hocked her engagement ring a year or so after we split up cause she was short of funds (she can't manage money for sh*t, at the time I was paying her far more than min wages per week cash in hand as part of maintenance). I presume they paid her a fraction of the price of the ring and as a result she lost it. I didn't shed any tears over it, but it showed me how scummy cash converters is. to me they prey on people with poor money management skills. another interesting note is that my partner's mum has worked in jewelry shops for a long time and knows tonnes about rings, diamons and other jems. She'll often go to pawn shops (including cash converters, but mainly just normal pawn shops) and go through their old jewelery. she has managed to obtain some very nice finds, normaly she uses the jems from a few different rings to get a uniquie ring made!
  19. disks posted today :) unfortunatly missed yesterday's mail :( Thanks for the disks guys, absolutely perla :)

  24. :lol he is from Cranbourne! Man I remember as a kid when that place was five shops, a postoffice, a clocktower and a grayhound race track (oh and the sandmine)!!! I think he is trying to say: "I'm for the one that is currently available but I'm new to this and I do not know how to go about it, could someone please help". But I'm not 100% certain! Damn kids, don't know they're alive!
