1. He's right you know... I got my first one in 2015. Sold it and got a New Astro City running Soul Calibur 2 in 2016... So far I've owned 6 total in that time. I don't have the space either but it's like crack. Love the MVS. Are you running real carts? I'm slowly collecting the metal Slug series. I have 2, 4 and X at the moment. I highly recommend the 108 or 161 multicart for the MVS if you're just after something else to play during your collecting. Played some games I've never heard of before on the multicart, I'm now looking for them as single carts. (Rage of Dragons is high on that list :D ) Looking good, it's a terrible addiction. We should all see therapists. Sent from my SM-G925I using Aussie Arcade mobile app
2. G'Day! Sorry to necro post. I picked up an LAI upright last year with a 2 layer pcb and a dead HDD. It starts the regular chinise Windoos boot screen and gets stuck a 1/4 of the way into loading. I've even gone as far as leave it to do it's thing for an hour and it hasn't moved. Is anyone still offering a HDD ghost or possibly a new dump? I'm happily playing my neo Geo on the cab but would like to play some CPS2 games. Sorry again for the post bump. Willing to mail out the HDD if someone is able to have a look at it. Cheers.
3. Welcome back :D I'm slowly working my way back to the buy sections as well. When was the forum changed? I understand the reasoning and support it. I just find it funny I have 1 wanted post from 2016 that I created and I can't read my own thread XD
4. Thanks for the welcome :D I've been pretty busy but not as much as I'd like to. Been a slow process of saving money then waiting for parts. Currently looking for a cheap/free 22" Monitor for the new blue cab pickup and get to work on that soon. I don't know what I'm doing with CRT and I'm not comfortable playing with those sorts of voltages just yet. I'll get there at some point but in the meantime, I'll get a cab running on LCD and if I feel like it later I can always go back to CRT. Poor 1942 though :( I still need to get out there with a sledge hammer. I've salvaged all I can.
5. I'm back! And wow, what a ride! Started in 2015 with my first cab. A bootleg Jungle King Ghetto cab not knowing anything at all about what I was doing. Link to first introduction thread A few months later, I sold the little old ghetto cab and I picked up a New Astro City from One of you awesome peeps, and nurtured it back to full health :D (@80's KiD :P) Repaired locks, tracked down a marquee, installed coin mech, replaced a few things here and there. Wasn't a lot to do, the hard stuff was already taken care of. You did good :) Even threw in a NAMCO System 246 with Soul Calibur 2. Since then I've gathered a few more games for the system, tracked down a NAMCO System 256 and got Chou DragonBall Z, Tekken 4 and Mobile Suit Gundam Z : AEUG vs Titans. I was finally happy for about a year... Then I picked up an LAI. This thing came with a crappy Games Family board. The HDD refuses to boot. No matter, I threw a Neo Geo MVS in it and picked up a few titles (Mostly Metal Slug) The chassis however has a dry joint somewhere and needs a look at. I'll probably send it off to Jomac. It works if you give the side of the cab a love tap but I don't want to do it and total the chassis all together so it's best the cab stay off for now. September last year I picked up 2 Chinese/Korean(?) Candies for super cheap. Pulled them out of Timezone. They were doing a cab clear out. These cabs needed some work. Missing doors, no game board, no locks, requiring a harness etc etc. I sold one this week, the buyer was thrilled :D I've currently gotten mine to a working state and I need to do some more metal work and make a replacement front door. I also need to get a $1 top feed electronic coin mech (No microswitch mounts), some locks and finally bolt down the guts when I decide where I want them. Great little cab. They were originally set up for a Taito Type X2 as a single back-to-back unit running Street Fighter IV. Unfortunately, the Taito didn't come with the cabs. They were also set up for 1P CPs each. I've been working on a 2P conversion. It's come together nicely :D Aaaaaaaaaand now I'm here. Woke up yesterday morning, and house 3 doors down had put 2 cabs out to get scrapped... This was the first thing I saw across the road yesterday morning Of course I ran down to ask the owners if they could pull it off the street while I organised a trailer (Was staying at my girlfriend's house). When I got down to have a better look, after moving the Challenger clone to a safe place, I discovered how much of a brutal death 1942 had suffered. R.I.P 1942. I did however salvage the game board. I have yet to test it. As for the Challenger, it's in great nick and had a Game Box 2008 'Pandora' board installed (IT WORKS!). When I picked it up, the owner of the house came out and handed me the marquee light box to go with it :D With which I swapped out with the LAI, it looks much nicer in red. No Tekken Tag, but all in all. Can't complain with 2 game boards and a perfectly repairable cab for nothing :D Plenty of work to keep me busy and I have still got a lot to learn but these last few years have been a massive learning experience and an absolute blast! Now I need to continue my search for Tekken 5.1 and Soul Calibur 3 for the NAMCO System. Those are HIGH priority! Sorry for the enormous post but I'm very happy to be back :)
6. Shameless self bump instead of creating another thread. Also after Top Entry AUS $1 and AUS $2 coin mech to suit New Astro City.
7. G'Day Please keep in mind this is a scout post. I'm new to all this and scouting around for prices to buy and what's available and is in no means a quick sale if an offer pops up. Now that's out of the way, I'm looking for a working NAMCO System 256 kit and poking around for what's out there. I'm unsure of the going buy prices so throw 'em at me. I do currently have a NAMCO System 246 and looking to upgrade (I kinda just want to run Super Dragonball Z). I'm also looking for Soul Calibur 3: Arcade edition and security dongle. Cheers :) Located in Western Sydney area, NSW.
8. UPDATE SO I've just realised that the PSU dial is turned ALL the way down. That's one problem found. However I don't have a multimeter and the last thing I want to do is go twisting it with the cab on and not knowing voltages. I guess I'll see if I can get my hands on one and for now check the PSU fuse by eye until I can properly test the thing. So for now I'll just leave the thing unplugged.
9. Taking a guess and saying the one with "SOLDER" written on it is the harness?
10. Was exactly my thoughts, for the price I paid ($200 delivered to my door) I was honestly only after the cab. a 19" won't fit in the tiny shell but I know a 17" PC monitor WILL. For the $200 I paid for the cab delivered I really wasn't bothered if it worked or not but knowing that the monitor works and most parts (Board, monitor, transformer, PS and chasis) is all original is fantastic. I would love to see it running but not having the knowledge to do so I'd rather sell off the parts to someone that does know what they're doing and will be useful to and help me build my MAME machine and help possibly fund another cab. Being 26, my dream cab is a dedicated Metal Slug cab. I have fond memories of going to the gym with my mum and her friend's son and spending our money given to us for hot chips into the slug cab instead. Ha! take it you're local too?
11. Ok so the screen powers up, previously owner said "Working 6 months ago, missing fuse" I found the fuse and popped it back in but the only thing I can see working is the monitor. There's no sound and there's also no screen flicker or sound when I trip the coin mech. I'm honestly lost as to where to start looking but from what I can see, the board may be dead.
12. Well I've just pulled the board out and it's a JUNGLE KING board As someone that doesn't have a lot of money (Kinda broke now XD) and just wanted a cab to run Metal Slug through and I reeeeeally don't know what I'm doing with old boards and circuits and no solder skills. I really bought the cab for it's shell as I know what I'm doing on the PC front. Was looking for info about it all value wise and if I can help someone out with parts for a classic cab and be able to turn it around for both parties (Cash for me to help with MAME parts and cheap(ish) parts for someone else that knows what they're doing) I'd be happy. Here's the boards.
13. Hey all :) So I picked up my first cab and was actually DELIVERED yesterday. So I've got a few questions and I've already done a little bit of digging around myself before seeking help. The cab is from what I believe a 1983 Jungle Hunt cab. The seller referred to it as Jungle BOY, which I can't find any info on so if it IS Jungle Boy I'm assuming it's a bootleg. She said is didn't power on and someone who previously looked at it said it was missing a fuse. Well guess what I found sitting on the bottom of the cab, the mysterious vanishing fuse. So I screwed that sucker in and fired her up and thank god the screen works BUT she doesn't play blind so I'm assuming the board is fried. I've also seen that multilayer boards are a pain in the ass if they're fried (This is a 3 layer board). OK so here's the haps; I know the monitor is good, it's a 14" Mitsubishi CRT and I was told that they're fairly sought after and worth around $400 (This is what I've been told, I'm completely unsure so I'd like a confirmation on this). MANY chips on the board and branded with Mitsubishi and looks that everything matches and is original to the cab. I bought the cab in hopes of converting it into a MAME machine if the board didn't work and from what I can see, it doesn't. So what I'm asking is what should I be saying and asking if I were to list the guts for sale? I really don't want to go poking around in there and playing with CRTs that's for sure. I can provide specific pictures if needed. Thanks guys :) Here's my cab
