hey guys - i have a fuji speedrace too, still in early stages of mechanical repair only. i spent a lot of time researching replacement speedo and i found a reasonable new replacement meter online and had drafted up a replacement speed dial - the replacement meter i found is physically the same but flat across the bottom over the coil instead of curved so i will need to a bit of fancy reshaping with plastic putty and a file to replicate it and replace the glass afterward.
it would be good to get a hi-res scan of the speedo graphics.
the issue you are seeing with the monitor looks like weak signal level - the signal level at the monitor input on the original monitor may need to be higher, or maybe a faulty input component like a damaged cap. and i have two of those monitors (one steel cased, one wood cased). i also recall seeing those in an Aunger Pong/"Electronic Tennis" cabinet.
i can get to my cabinet ok (it just hasnt been fired up yet as i am still checking it over mechanically and electrically first) if you need some info.
Lexmark also has one of these in operating condition!
and thanks for the harness schematic - a must have thanks!
keep up the good work!

i had checked mine over about 18 months ago and it was working fine. i dont recall exactly what but i'll have to check it for you and post results. i'll compare to the harness schematic too.

Need a coin door for the front of the machine and work needs to be done on a speedo or a replacement. Any ideas??
what is wrong with the coin door in your first picture ? i have seen those restored beautifully with a bit of care and hard work - dents can be straightened out and paint can be redone and chrome/steel trims can be polished etc. amazing what can be done to save an old component!
mine is if i recall a green painted standard taito coin door, like yours may or should be - could also be a grey one - but an early single coin entry door with the yellow plug where the very very early ones had a start button. chances of finding one - next to zero, but keep your eyes peeled on here, KLOV, ebay, quARTERARCADE, jammauk, etc. etc etc.
other parts are very hard to find - i found some exact replacements for the push buttons, so let me know if you need a source for those and i'll see if i can find where i got them from. bulbs for those buttons etc for the front panel are a special type - i did look them up again a long time ago.
you are also missing the green side translucent panels for the green either side of the race track. should be easy to source some suitable material - should be the same green as the space invaders ?

i have the wrong steering wheel. sigh. let us know where you are getting the logo made up for the steering wheel - might have to get a couple made up too!
speedo operation - again a long while since i looked at this but if you have trouble with this one i can do some investigation on mine to check the voltage swing range. let me know.
