  1. Yeah sorry guys, this looks like it is cactus at this point. Health advice (behind the scenes) is no lift in lock down till mid-august at the earliest. Pretty bummed, but better safe than sorry.
  2. I have farm insurance through Elders that specifically has $20m of public liability insurance. I *still* take out event insurance for every meet I hold. Its usually around $1000 but can be more - full weekends are $1500 - $2500 depending on what you tell them you're doing. The second you mention fire the price goes up. Don't count on your public liability to cover you when someone spills they were charged $25 to play pins the night an injury happens. My advice is if you are going to run this as a business, do it properly. FWIW every time I run an event in the lead up I regret it due to the exact same reasons Grant has stated. "You're making a fortune" ... no I'm not, I lose money on these things. People never believe you so it just makes you think why do I bother?
  3. No idea, was it you DAG? The other was Greg McMahon I know that much. If it was you you're already paid for this one. I returned the money to Greg the other day.
  4. My meets have almost always been $100 or more for a whole weekend. Sometimes as much as $150 when comps are involved. People have very short memories. If you don't like it, don't come. Problem solved. Its wonderful what you do for the pinball community I'm sure, however if you would like to whinge or promote yourself, start your own thread, please refrain from doing so in mine. Thanks!
  5. Yeah sorry my dudes. Edy is on my arse constantly but I largely have to ignore it in spite of his frustration. I also haven't read anything in this thread, so I'm going to leave answering any questions in the very capable hands of Edy. Now i'm going to sound harsh in this next part because I'm time poor so you get the 'to the point' version of me. How much to attend? - $100. I don't care if you come for a day or the whole 3 days the price is the same. But that isn't fair - If you don't like it, sorry, but this is about making things easy for me, not you. Kiwis - no fee payable How do I pay? - paypal no exceptions. If you can't use paypal, either find someone to pay for you, or don't bother coming. I won't accept cash, and under no circumstances will I accept bank transfer. Its a pain in the arse, and quite frankly if something goes wrong, you may wait a year to get it back (there are two people on here who can vouch for that). Pinging me here repeatedly does no good because in between meets I don't visit AA anymore, and haven't for several years. So it is paypal or nothing. FYI the reason I don't come here anymore is because it is like an alcoholic walking into a brewery, best to be avoided. What do I get for that? - well you get access to one of the largest playable collections of pinball machines in the country. Generally speaking 96 games at any given time ranging from EMs to late Sterns. Where does the money go? - some money goes to Dan to cover wear and tear on his machines. Some money goes to Edy to fix stuff and keep everything running. Some money goes to my electricity bill. Some money goes to new parts to replace the things that break after a meet (usually 5-10 games). Almost always something goes wrong with my septic and I end up paying huge money to fix it. The usual. I also will keep snags and bread rolls flowing throughout the event so no-one goes hungry. Never ran an event in the pinball space that makes money, so no-one is being ripped here except me. Covid - I'm going to assume everything works out just fine however I won't start taking payment till after this latest lockdown ends. If covid strikes again I will give everyone a full refund (this is why we use paypal, it makes refunds easy, and things that take up too much of my time don't happen). Any questions, dump them in this thread and Edy will eventually get the answer out of me! Cheers!
  6. I’ll start to add info tomorrow. Cap will be at 150 peeps, there wouldn’t be that many who have put their hand up thus far. In the past I’ve capped it around 120, but at least 40 of the people that have said they are coming won’t leave the fire anyway 😂
  7. That was really hard saying goodbye. I’ve lost my Father and my Father-in-Law who was like the dad I never had. Losing Yee hits different. Its like the world just got a little dimmer if that makes sense. The fact that people from all of the different endeavours in his life reflected on Yee in the same way speaks volumes about the man. Yee lived a life full of fun and hard work, friends and family, always saw the glass half full, and rarely complained about anything. Sometimes in life you don’t realise what you had until it is gone, my friendship with Yee is one of those things. I still can’t quite believe he’s not going to be at the next event. I kept looking around for him at the drinks we had before his funeral, and then the sharp realisation that he isn’t here anymore hit me at least 3 times during the night. For my part I’m going to try and be more like Yee in the future and actually build connections when people reach out rather than being too busy with work. We should all try and be more like Yee, we’ve only got so much time on this earth, and only we get to choose how we spend it. I will miss you Yee.
  8. Early to mid 60s. I use to know exactly but it never seemed to affect him. I’m 43 in a couple of months, Yee was roughly 20 years older than me.
  9. Agreed mate. I was always shocked at the size of his heart in helping people, and how bloody strong he was especially at his age. I remember moving my pimped out WOZ with him one year from downstairs in the Batcave to the upstairs garage. I was knackered. He didn’t break a sweat. I’m 20 years younger :)

  11. I usually do these at the end of August. Just need to check what is already in the diary with the missus.
  12. So looking through a bunch of photos trying to find Yee at meets and I got nostalgic. I also had to cancel one of these due to COVID and promised to dust it off once things settled down. Anyway. F**k it. Fire pits. Beers. Shots. Shit talk. Circle of trust. Pinball. Camping. All weekend (Friday to Sunday). No F**king Comps. August (weekend TBA). AA’s longest running, intermittent, last minute, whatever the f**k event is back and bigger than ever. AA’s finest riff-raff welcome to attend. This ones for you Yee. ********* Update 01/07/21 Dates - 27-29th August How much to attend? - $100. I don't care if you come for a day or the whole 3 days the price is the same.
