  1. Any chance of an update with the dimensions of each panel? As others have mentioned your design really stands out as 'easy' yet functional. Would really like to base mine on yours and having the measurements would make life a lot easier. Cheers.
  2. Thanks for the detailed response. Any more info you decide to post when you build up the next few would be appreciated. Now for some time and money to build one up.
  3. How much do you think it cost you all up without the computer/monitor? So wood, glass, buttons, legs etc? I'm very impressed by the finish. Well done.
  4. Wow thanks a lot for that information Jomac. I take it that it's pretty straight forward for someone with experience to adjust these rings but might be difficult for someone who has no idea? If it is something that is straight forward to adjust are there any good guides on the net with step-by-step instructions. Or if not would it cost much to get someone to have a look at it in Melbourne? Thanks for all the help so far.
  5. Yeah thats exactly what I did. I'm pretty confident i'm doing it the correct way. I've tried it numerous times now but I might give it another couple of tries before removing the chassis. Thanks again for all the help guys. I'll update you when I get a chance to play with the machine again.
  6. Yeah the wand has an effect on the monitor (warply strange colours) but as soon as you finish it's exactly the same as it was previously. I guess I'll have to start reading up on discharging the screen and see if I can't get the chasis removed. Why can't things be simple :unsure
  7. Could it be that my degaussing wand isn't 'strong enough'?? I don't know much about them, mine is one of the Gamedude ones. The machine itself has had the fucked monitor at the four different houses it's been located at, so it's nothing to do with it's current location... Although I only ever tried to degauss it here. It really is driving me batty. I would go check the chasis for any issues but all the talk of high voltage etc has me a bit weary, to the point where I'm thinking I might just put up with a dodgy screen :(. Thanks for all the help so far as well guys. Great community here :).
  8. I tried the degauss button but it didn't help.. So I guess the next thing to look at is the chasis for bad joints/caps etc. But before I go down that path, would a dodgy chasis have the possibility of causing the discolouration that it's displaying? that is only on the left hand 1/3 of the screen? I don't know much about CRT's but I would have thought a dodgy solder joint etc would effect the whole screen and not just a specific region....
  9. I'm using a degauss wand. I wasn't aware there was a degauss button on the cab (although I did notice just before when I took the surround off there was a little red push button near the monitor PCB. I assume that is the degauss button and not the self destruct button?) There is a little speaker near the cabinet but not close enough to effect the monitor. Not to mention it's been like that prior to the speaker being anywhere near the monitor.
  10. Will give that a go. Thanks. I tried degaussing again and no matter what I do it makes no difference to the green tinge on the left hand side. :unsure:unsure :(
  11. :) I could be doing it wrong of course, but I followed the instructions that came with the wand. IE Start on the top-left positioned at front of screen and then go anti clockwise and bring it into the center and then back untill screen isn't effected by it and turn it off. It made absolutley no difference. Am I missing something?
  12. Hi All, I've got the following upright running a 26" Kortek http://img383.imageshack.us/img383/8551/24905714vt1.jpg A friend of mine bought it about 8 years ago. It has always had issues with the monitor, but he has moved overseas and left the cabinet with me. Now that I've got MAME up and running on it I really want to get this screen fixed. There are two issues that I've noticed. The 1st is probably best described with pictures: http://img383.imageshack.us/img383/1870/46868585lb5.jpg and http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/4114/52000924pa2.jpg Now I assumed it just needed degaussing but I've tried using a degaussing wand on it a couple of times with no change at all. Is there something I'm missing? Or could it be something else that is causing it? the second issue isn't as important. And to be honest I only really noticed it when taking the pictures of the first issue. On the bottom half of the screen (more prodominat in the left hand side but also slightly on the right. The RGB layers don't seem to line up http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1604/62777096os3.jpg The top half of the screen is fine: http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/8431/68567339zh4.jpg I assume this needs some kind of adjustment on the back of the monitor. Really didn't want to go poking around back there unless I have to but suggestions would be great. Thanks guys.
