  1. Will do.... I'll post here if it is sold. Having it project out a few inches beyond the back of the stand should not be an issue, I would think
  2. Going, going.... I don't have the sony stand but do have it on a solid wooden cabinet. I definitely need to sell this : my wife wants it out of the lounge-room. Will throw in the Samsung HD set top box also! Comes with the manual and original remote. I'll measure the size of it for you... and post it later today. Brendan
  3. I am reluctantly selling my Sony Trinitron 36 inch TV. The model is KVHR36M31, made in Japan. This still puts out the best TV picture I have seen (even compared with my new Panasonic V series Plasma). This same model TV is still used by professional video editors in film making, and is regarded by many as the best CRT ever made. Here's a review: http://www.productreview.com.au/p/sony-kvhr32m31-kvhr36m31-widescreen-fd-trinitron-wega.html The output includes 1080i. Why for the sale? This TV is a beast: approximately 90kg: so will require pickup only (2 people lifting minimum!). No room for it anymore: now that have the new panasonic plasma. So it is definitely a reluctant sale. Would be perfect for a games room. Pickup only for NE Melb suburb. Asking price $300. Will take nearest offer.
  4. Thanks Kev, I think I understand what you are saying. I will look at the tutorial and give it a go with the ROMs I have and use your files. 9Backing up everything ..just in case). I might take you up on the HDD to get the latest & greatest ROMs: what size/format do you need? I think I have a 20+GB sitting around. PM me please, if you get a chance. Brendan
  5. Dumb questions about instaling this patch and updating MAME... Hi, just about to fire up my lowboy arcade machine. Have not played it for months. Saw this thread and thought I'd give this patch a go to get rid of the nag screens. So here's my setup and question: I am running GameEx (Love it!) I have mamepp.exe as the mame file that runs. By the looks of the folder, it is version 0.126 I just downloaded mame 0.138-U3 Soooo... to get this running, do I: copy the new mame version over the current one Then copy the patch from Baker.. to what folder/where? Do I need to update my ROM's or just the MAME version as indicated above. Anything else to do? Told you they were dumb questions! Not up to date with all of this.... :redface Help appreciated!
  6. oh no! Whoops, sorry about that. Thanks for the heads-up dez. just flicked through the thread initially and didn't realise it was 'closed'. :redface Was actually looking at getting the AVI's from emumovies. I'm a registered Gameex user and looked at getting the discount. Unfortunately the current discount for emumovies for gameex users is MORE than the standard price. (They have'nt updated the discount for a while). Tom is looking into this. I'd much prefer getting a set locally from an Aussiearcade friend, though! Anyone from the list keen to send me the DVD's. More than happy to pay to cover costs and even a few extra bucks to pay for the 9in)convenience of sending them out to me. I'm located in Melbourne. ....please..
  7. one more to add to list... Please add me to the list for the AVI's... Thanks! :)
  8. Solved Thanks HeadKaze, exactly what I needed. I also posted on the Gameex forum & received the same quick reply from Tom, the guy who wrote the program. No more annoying sounds! Brendan
  9. Hiya, I've just about finished putting together my Lowboy cabinet and have purchased the registered version of GameEx. I'm loving the front-end and have set it up as a jukebox and slide viewer as well as all the MAME games. At some stage I adjusted the settings to allow random sound effects to play hilst in the gameex menus. I now want to disable this as it's annoying me and I also have random music playing in the background from the jukebox.. so having a good song playing whilst navigating the menus is fun, but then having a sound effect play over the music is not! How do I turn the random sound effects off? I've looked through the config file and I know it must be there somewhere but can't find it... ahhhh!! Help! BC:realmad:
  10. Images of Lowboy Here's the links to the painted lowboy. Only a few minor details left now - back of unit, finalising the GameEx setup; T molding (black) etc... http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu263/bpcvet/DSC_0649.jpg http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu263/bpcvet/DSC_0650.jpg http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu263/bpcvet/DSC_0651.jpg http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu263/bpcvet/DSC_0652.jpg http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu263/bpcvet/DSC_0654.jpg
  11. Here's the beast... once I sort out the attachment file limit I'll post a couple more.
  12. That's the black gloss enamel paint. There is black vinyl over this in the final build (pics I want to upload). So it looks totally different... i.e. not crappy like the pic! Put the black gloss underneath so if I got any tears in the vinyl in long-run from overuse/misuse then may not show much underneath. BC
