Hi AA folks. Hope I'm posting this in the right section?? I have recently acquired a 3 sided cocktail cabinet which I believe is an Arcadeworx product which currently has a PC inside running a hyperspin build. At the moment it's running with 2 controllers when I got it of the previous owner but it does need some additional components, configuration and TLC. My aim is to have it working with all 4 controllers and will swap between vertical & horizontal games (hopefully and I know it's gonna take some time to get this right) My current plan is the following: PC: Rebuild the system & settings - Install Win7 64bit, Shell this and use Coin-ops Forgotten Worlds build + addons as my all in one solution. I've been using this for a while and it's so simple & well put together. I believe it's using RetroFE as the frontend. Cabinet: Remove PC from case and mount PC hardware inside. Add a power switch to turn on PC (as coinops can shut down the pc when finished) Source & add a sound system with amp Source & add the additional joysticks/buttons Source & add I-PAC4 (currently has I-PAC2 installed) Rewire/tidy wiring Source a nice decal for the top of cabinet. Source T-molding - potentially looking at a chrome style but this may change. and anything else I may have missed. Any thoughts/feedback is appreciated or ideal place to go shopping for parts :) It's been a while since I last played around with cabinets and this is not going to be a rushed build, I'm going to take my time and get this right. Pictures of cabinet below. Since these were taken I have removed the t-molding & removed the buttons to the left/right of the cabinet as they were horrible. ** Small update. I've taken the cabinet apart a little and mounted the PC onto the back panel. Installed new buttons for the sides and add p3 & p4 buttons. I have removed the current wiring and will redo this with shorter length wiring and some need replacing as they were fragile and broke when I took them off :( rotated some of the buttons so I have better access to the micro switch connections. Photos below.

Hi Aussie folks. It's been a while (a very long while). I've moved on from my original cabinet which was an refitted Virtual Fighter cabinet and now recently got myself an 3 sided cocktail cabinet. Some work has already been done to it but I would ideally like to start from scratch but will need some guidance. I will create a new thread of my build somewhere down the line (just not sure which area to create the post) but for now Hello again and looking forward to getting back into the mix. Also any local Perth members I may use as a brain trust?? :D

So happy right now....it's now finally working..All colors have returned. Now i can really sit and finish off my project. If i wanted customize the entire cabinet what would be the best way around it? graphics wise.

Hi Gibo (now spelt correctly) I may be giving you another call to query a bit more about the Jamma boards. Again thanks for help :)

Update...................... OK nice guy Gibbo came out today. Good news....the colors are fine on the CRT :) bad news lots of tweaking....I've managed to make great progress but I've hit a bump...The red is still giving me a headaches....I just can't get it vibrant enough without turning the whole CRT red/blackish color. Green and Blue are perfect. More adjusting to be done :S but i'm extremely happy with progress so far....If you read this Gibbo Cheers mate. :) :) Ok wondering if it's my J-pac that's causing the color problem....any ideas where i can get a cheap replacement or 2nd hand one ??? Hate to pay full price only to find out it's not that or will a Video Amplifier improve picture quality....getting a bit desperate now :S

WOW been a very long time since i posted....the reason is for lack of interest is the screen has gone..the red tube/gun has blown and gonna cost a bomb to repair (really tempted to sell at a loss and build my own from scratch table top) Still unsure on this. Shame really I was looking forward to playing this for years to come. Plus the fact it's been moved the farthest room of the house (outta site outta mind damn you wife!!!! :P) If i could just bring it closer i may start work on it again.

Would love to stick with XP 64bit but the wireless card fails to work... Will look at other options. With XP 64bit can you still edit so you can remove all reference to windows during boot up??? I know boot skin doesn't work. Is there alt methods??

Nah not using windows 7. XP 64 bit....but recently uninstalled it as when ever u tried to connect to my wireless network it BSOD on me.....GGRRRR. Not sure i want to go W7 due to all the mucking around with the screen rez issues with the VGA card. I'll send Jomac a PM and see what he can do. Thanks folks. Also slowly gathering parts to make a mini pinball machine :)

Been a while since i posted anything. Had a friend come round on Sunday and after a lot of tracing and wire untangling and other stuff made some nice head way....here are some pictures... - This was taken out as the stuff wasn't connected to anything or belonged to the orig arcade. This is what it looks like inside now (bit cleaners and less congested) My PC now all in place and working fine...was working fine.....grrrrrrr Look my player 1 & Player 2 buttons had lights in them...we'll i never..... But the real sad news is the next picture :cry The monitor has gone...when my mate looked at it he noticed magnets had been placed all around. the colors started going and we tried to save it but no joy...so either looking to repair or replace. So anybody in the perth area recommend anybody??? I'm using hyperspin as my frontend ...got it working well just need to finish of the daphne rom side of things.

been in 3 rooms sofar bloody heavy to move. I got a degaussing tool but not working. I've checked the orig manual and there is/was a degauss option but it's not there (all other switches are) poodoo.
-
Just need to try and fix the Degaussing issue i have on the left of the screen. I bought a Degaussing wand but not helped :(

That was great advice...After trying it out i did a reset to default settings and all the options i lost prior to doing all this have returned. Will the default settings that work with mame work with other emulators like Daphne & the supermodel 2 & 3.

Got the bug a bit after starting can't stop atm :D so i took the big step and took out the PC and started the process of laying out and putting in place..this is it so far... The above pictures are the mb and psu layout. When it goes back in the machine it will sit right under one of the cabinet fans which will come in handy for extra cooling. The motherboard is screwed in place the PSU can still be moved around. Thinking of sticking it down with some 3M command strips as it will stick in place and can be removed easily (as there is no real way to screw the PSU in place. These two pictures are possible layout designs for the DVD & HDD drives. For the HDD drives i'm going to by some brackets so i can screw them down for stability. Now to find a way of macking a long on/off switch or a way for it to switch on when the main cab power is turned on. Right now time for bed getting a headache and need a shower bloody thing was mega dusty :D
