Manny Negg
Hi All, I was hoping i could draw on the advice of some people who have done it (built cabs) before. I have got this far into my build by studying pictures and reading threads but i have some questions i need answered before i progress, here goes. Question 1: Bezel graphics, What do people use? vinyl stickers on the front of the glass or paper behind it? and if it is paper do you use a thick paper to stop it bending over time? Question 2: Joy Sticks and buttons, what are the best to use. l want to play 4 way and 8 way games. and i like the batton tops. Question 3: C.P overlay? this one's a biggy, what are the advantages and disadvantages of the different ones? i know of Perspex, Laminate (like from oz sticks) and Vinyl Stickers. I know Perspex is sweaty and can scratch. Sorry for so many questions but i dont want to pull it apart once ive built it. Manny.
Nidzdotnet
Question 1: Bezel graphics, What do people use? vinyl stickers on the front of the glass or paper behind it? and if it is paper do you use a thick paper to stop it bending over time? Meh I just printed my ones out on paper so the light would show through. Hasn't faded yet. It's wedged in between 2 pieced of perspex. It's actually 2 pieces of paper put end on end. Printed it on my inkjet. http://home.alphalink.com.au/~nbaxter/Images/jessbday1.jpg Question 2: Joy Sticks and buttons, what are the best to use. l want to play 4 way and 8 way games. and i like the batton tops. Yeah those baton tops are fine (as pictured above). The button packages you get I find work fine. Anything Arcadegaming Australia or Ozstick sell will work fine. I use the regular Aussie dimple type buttons. Cheap and do the job. Question 3: C.P overlay? this one's a biggy, what are the advantages and disadvantages of the different ones? i know of Perspex, Laminate (like from oz sticks) and Vinyl Stickers. I know Perspex is sweaty and can scratch. I'm using the Ozstick kind on my current control panels and it's good. Adheres well and has a strong stick, even on chipboard surfaces. I guess it depends what you want. The CP overlay shows everything you put it on top of including holes, screws etc.. Keep that in mind. Laminate is a total coverer.. I don't know much about all the other kidns of overlay. Vinyl works well though as a covering. Hope that's of some help to you.
Manny Negg
Does anyone know where you can get the printed peel and stick overlay for C.P's? Is this available in Australia?
