Guest Wotto
Hi all, A mate of mine says he has an " original " Galaga cocktail table in good condition fully working and coin operated ( personally I havent seen it and I know the word "original" in this industry can mean many things! ). Anyway. what would be a good asking price for such a machine "if" it is as described? The unit is in sydney. Cheers Wotto

RetroGame
Is there such a thing as an "Original Galaga" Table top in Australia, I thought the were just standard Taito shells with galaga boards in them. Did they have galaga artwork?
Super Moderator WOKA Posted March 14, 2006 Super Moderator Share Posted March 14, 2006 i dont know but i know someone that might be interested got pics? Good point - you beat me to it.. To me an original Galaga Table Top would be similiar to this, well the machine that would sit under this..! I know its YANK, but it sure is nicer that a generic Taito with Galaga CP and board.. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-NOS-Galaga-Arcade-Cocktail-Underlay-Overlay-Set-CPO_W0QQitemZ6262296410QQcategoryZ13716QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Regards. Guest Wotto
Hi all, Finally got to see this unit over the weekend. OK- it is just a generic tabletop in fair to average condition that has what looks to be a 14' monitor ( it is pretty small ) - it all works well, the player 2 controls are perfect cosmetically, the player 1 side is missing part of the panel but works fine. The glass is clear and unscratched ( well nothing major ) and it has Gallag instruction sheets under it. So .......a dollar guess??? anyone???...I have no idea. :unsure  Wotto:D :o :D

Super Moderator WOKA Posted March 20, 2006 Super Moderator Share Posted March 20, 2006 Generic Table top cab (preferably Taito): $350.00 Gallag Arcade Game board: $150.00 Desirability: $100.00 If you get it for $500 and the glass is good you would think that's a fair price. It all depends on the condition.. Personally I don't like the LAI tables etc and will only buy the Taito's - and only if they are in good condition. I recently bought a good taito table top (minus glass) with an original Ladybug game for $300.00. To me that was a good buy. W.
jeff
i would offer around $300 -$500 from a buying perspective but from a sellers point of view it should be worth $500 - $700 in the condition you described  there are original dedicated tables (and uprights) out there :D leisure and allied and others used to bring out at least 1 original cabinet of a popular game from the states or japan etc for testing and if it made good money they would build lai versions :badgrin
catty
I always wondered what l/a did when making the cabinets. So they imported some dedicated us ones, stuffed up and made shit looking ones for us. Why didn't they just copy the ones imported?? I suppose there originals would be in collections or landfill by now.
RetroBorg
I saw a guy at work playing Galaga the other day and I told him I had a Galaga cocktail table like that at home and he asked me what they're worth, I told about $1000 and he said is that all, it looks like I'm selling mine. :badgrin
