My Little Hobbie

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Below is my M18, has only taken me about 6 months but its almost finshed. I do have a small problem tho. I have a mamba motor with speedy and futaba radio. When I try to take off the car just shakes and jitters then the battery gets very hot. Any ideas?

Its cost me a packet!

11.1v Lithium Batterie

8000kv Brushless Mamba Motor

Mamba Speedy

Nice soft Foamies

Lost count how many parts are either Alloy or titanium now :lol

Predicted speed if stable approx 100km/h maybe more because of the battery being alot bigger then the standard 7.2v. :badgrin

For me nitro = longer runtimes and more fun.. i run a completly diff setup though [4wd offroad] so i guess the two cant be compared. Ive never really had any "BIG PROBLEMS" with any nitro engine though

True, i spose i get about 10-15 mins out of a tank then top her up but i gotta admit i love the smell of the exhaust and sound of the engine revving its guts out.

Cool car though you take it out much? Time consuming hobby eh

LOL hasn't been run once yet! I have that funny problem with the motor not starting off with out a push mmmm puzzling

Did you check the mesh on the gears like I mentioned? When you first mentioned putting it together it sounded like they were way too tight. Should be able to run a piece of paper through them without the gears getting stuck or the paper chewed to pieces. Should just end up with a nicely crinkled piece of paper.

I'm into RC too, just sold my Savage SS but still have my Losi LST 1/8th scale nitro...

Yep Tamiya have re - released all the old favorites. The Frog, Hornet, Lunch Box, Grasshopper etc...

My Hornet use to flog the crap out of my mates Fox used to piss him off to no end.

Good thing about the Hornet was it had seperate batteries for the motor and radio gear so gave it that little bit extra over the Fox.

yeah, mine used to beat a mates manta-ray or something like that, and it cost at least double what i payed for the hornet.

Might have to start a new forum section aye? I'd love to get back into this.

[hijack] how much is radio gear these days[/hijack]

A cheap 2 channel AM wheel radio with a couple of servos etc. will set you back around $100-$150. A good 2 or 3 channel FM (many with computer/memory) from $250 up to $1K. ESC for electric can run as little as $50 up to $300. Depends where you shop and what you want.
