Pretty much the only way your going to get fireworks in Melbourne is if you own a type 2 pyrotechnics license or if you know somebody in Chinatown who may be able to get crackers. The only way I've gotten some was going for a long drive up to Canberra.. There used to be a few places in Fyshwick but I don't know if they do it anymore.. Fireworks King or Redback etc.. Maybe worth going on a road trip and fill the boot but they do come at a price.. Even in Canberra you need to let them photocopy your license.

.. While surfing around google for some places I found this and thought it was funny.. Reminds me of the Simpsons Movie..

I'll give you an example.. If you look here: http://www.fireworks.com.au/

The big bag packs of fireworks that they are holding will cost you about $150. Many of the packs contain small fireworks too.

These are the standard fireworks packs they sell up in the NT every June 30th as the website states. I lived in the NT for 4 years and always bought from these guys every year when they came up to sell them.

They are great to watch for small time "backyarder" fireworks, particularly when everyone else in town is letting them off at the same time.:D

Yeah they sell the same in ACT once a year.

It's pretty hard/ next to impossible to get a pyro license these days unless it's ur family business or you know someone in the industry.

I think it's easier to get an explosives licence! ie mining.

They (Harold from ACT fireworks) were going to put together courses you could do and then get your license... but then there was that accident in Qld about 2000 that killed a little girl and they cracked down hard...

So other than those packs (which are mainly roman candles and other little ones) there isn't much option other than illegal sellers ie for mortars and aerial shells.. :evil

Party poopers.

Fire Cracker night was awesome when I was a kid. I still remember chasing after Double Parachutes once ignited by my father. 20, 30, 50 ball shooters. Spring Whistles. Crazy Jacks.

Who could forget those favourites in my town, Throwdowns. Only .25 cents for a box of 12 from memory. Throw at unsuspecting strangers feet as you walk by. Punch them, throw a box at the ground hard, heck even bite them and get a mouth full of tiny rocks.

Ah throwdowns..........:D

All back in the day when I was only 5-6 years old and I could buy as many fireworks as I could afford, and I did. Ballshooter fights across the road with my neighbors....heck you couldn't do it now.
