Haulers/Trucks

Hey! What do most of you guys use to transport cabs? I'm really curious about all the different truck models Australia gets vs. the US. I have a Tacoma (which I believe you guys get as a Hilux), I also have a Nissan Titan, which I don't think exists over there. I think you guys just have the Navara, which is called the Frontier in the US. I love the Holden Crewman SS, which we don't get at all, though we get the couple version as the Pontiac GTO.

Here is a picture of the Titan bringing home a Dynamo cab. This was a Tekken 3 that I converted into a vert shooter. Truck has a 5.6 liter gas (petrol) V8 and a 5 speed automatic trans (no manual available).

I put Sky Soldiers art on it, but it still has the Tekken marquee in this picture.

Anyway, I'd love to see some truck/van pics, particularly those that are exclusive to Austrailia/New Zealand.

yeah, in the USA they go nuts with engine sizes... check out some Dodge Rams as well for insane sizes of utes/engines.you can buy them new from the dealer her ein townsville.they cost as much as a quarter of a decent house in price!

you can get these cars as "grey imports" from the USA.there is numerous dealers in Oz who you can get them from. There is a few in Brisabane and Sydney im aware of.

also in the USA, the just love BIG and DUAL... dual everything, dual tyres, dual engines, dual seats, dual cup holders... everythings got to be dual... love dual anything :lol

You guys are correct. Most trucks over here are geared for towing huge amounts, even though most people never tow with them. Ford and Dodge both offer V-10's of around 7 liters, and also large straight 6 and V8 diesels.

With low sulfur diesel just starting to appear here and fuel prices gradually creeping up, it looks like small 4 and 6 cylinder diesels are appearing here. Petrol engines were always preferred except in heavy duty pickup (ute) trucks.

Incredible that huge truck & the cab still dont fit in are you guys all 8 foot tall ?

I use one of these its fuel economy is 5 litres to 100 klms & my cabs fit in

but then it was designed & built in this millienium not the dinosaur age

this is what happens when a 45 tonne truck cuts the roundabout exit

& squashes you into a guard rail :D

That must have looked and sounded intense from inside. Wow!

I won't make excuses for driving a full frame dinosaur. I haul motorcycles and building material, along with all the smelly accoutrement's that come along with them -which I don't want riding inside a vehicle with me.

Nissan was funny with the beds on the Titans because they built them all on the same frame. The long bed version was only available with the smaller cab, and I needed the full back seat/4 door. It did come with a bed extender, which allows hauling cargo with the tailgate down, but that only makes the bed average size.

I think the 2008 will finally offer the long bed with the crew cab.

We do have our share of large people (both height and width :D ), but I'm about average.

i jumped out of the seat belt to sit in between the front seats

the car exploded into a thousand bits but the back window didn,t break, like volvos peugeots have 3 fat bars in each door + plus six airbags went off i was sort of dazed for a while the cops asked me which part of the truck hit me,

my reply THE LEFT FUCKING SIDE ! you can see the truck wheel impressions

Oh, one other thing. There is actually a second cabinet in the back in that picture. Its a Zaxxon that had been converted to a Twin Eagle.

Side impact standards were also greatly enhanced over here in the late 90's. Thank goodness for you!

This is totally unrelated, but on the subject of accidents, something hilarious happened to my neighbor. He has a long commute to work, and had a small 4 cylinder car. He was driving too fast in wet conditions going around an on-ramp and lost control of the car.

When I saw him, he was pulling into the driveway in his car, all smashed up but moving under its own power. He had a huge bandage around the top of his head. When I asked him what happened, he told me the story of the accident, then showed me the outward dents on the OUTSIDE of his cars roof which were made by his head as he went through the rocks and brush. I tried to keep a straight face, but it was probably the funniest thing I ever saw. He ended up laughing like a maniac while grunting in pain once he saw I couldn't control it.

I wish I had taken a picture of the car.
