Desuicided CPS2 not saving high scores

lid2000

Question

Just bought a Marvel vs Capcom CPS2 board that has been desuicided with the Phoenix ROMs. Everything is awesome, but I've noticed that it isn't saving high scores after being turned off. It's not that big a deal, but it gives me an excuse to mess with things.

Logic would dictate that that would mean the battery in it is probably flat, however as it has the Phoenix stuff installed, does this mean it totally bypasses the battery backup and I will always lose high scores after powering off, or if I replace the battery will it make a difference? Googling around hasn't gotten me anything on this particular problem, so I'm assuming that it's not a common side effect of Phoenix, but who knows.

So does anyone know either way? I'll open it up tomorrow and replace the battery if it will do something; just want to save myself effort if it's pointless doing it.

As far as i know no capcom boards do... even boards like alpha3 which actually have rewards for board on time don't save those setting when you reset them.

You have me curious though now. Im going to have to fire up my ex2 board and check. :unsure

My EX2 saved them all; when I removed it the other night the top ten was all scores I'd built up in the past 6 months (I usually switch it on maybe once or twice a week for a session). Changing any option in the test menu resets everything though (on mine anyway).
