Namco Pole Position 1/2 pcb repair log

OK, I know this will grow over time :)

 

Main car sprites , billboards and other track \side objects missing every second horizontal line. Traced back to the 2148's which do not get tested. Turned out to be one of the 161's driving them. I'll have to get the number. Going to change all the 161's in that area as they are all the same brand and date code.

Namco or atari boardsets?

twas an quick fix really. Good thing about the self test on the pcbs. Figured it was the only rams it didn't test would be the first suspect, which luckily proved correct.

how do u id the board brand? I am trying to find schematics for my sitdown. Mine has 2 large pcb's. I ask because the prev. smuck owner cut the wires to the accelerator and brake. The cab is an LAI. I can find the NAMCO version but am having trouble find any LAI info. Any help would be great.
