Roxbury
With Uni starting back up next week, it would be handy if I had a laptop. Basically all I need to use it for is running MS Office. No games, no Internet connection, no bells and whistles. I would prefer something new, does anybody know of anywhere reputable that has reasonable low end new laptops between $500 - $700? I have considered 2nd hand, but have found some of the prices these things sell for are quite high, and if you are unlucky something can go wrong and end up costing you even more $$$ However if somebody has one to get rid of I might consider it. coffee_mogul
Try office works or Big W, definately under $1000.00 but you may need to claim back a redemption from the manufacturer.

elvis
Even places like "Wow Sight and Sound", "JB HiFi" and those sorts of shops are all carrying cheap laptops now. Plenty of them floating around for $900 or so, and with $100 cash back from the manufacturer after you fill in the redemption card. If you don't want wireless or high specs, they're getting pretty damn cheap.
Super Moderator WOKA Posted February 19, 2007 Super Moderator Share Posted February 19, 2007 Save you self a couple of hunderd bucks and DUMP MS Office.. Install Open Office instead.. That couple of hunderd can remain in your pocket of fund a better notebook.. If Open Office isn't what you want you can always get a copy of MicroSnot Office later.. Even an OEM copy if you ask nicely. W.

elvis
Save you self a couple of hunderd bucks and DUMP MS Office.. Install Open Office instead... If they let you. Some laptops come pre-bundled and you get no choice. One of my major grievances with the IT industry.
