My guess is if you turn debug=yes in the config file and try it again, everything will work nicely, but then break again when you set debug=no. If thats the case, you're in the same boat I am... There are various utilities that you can use to close glaunch, open the application, then re-open glaunch when that application shuts down... but I havent figured it out yet (still trying to find a front end that actually works first go!) Is the version of mame and/or your video card the same as on your other cabs?
RetroGame
Gamelauncher goes back to the menu when MAME has a problem starting a rom. If all the directories are set correctly, go into the mame directory and from the command line run a rom. ie, mame 1942 <enter> if there is a problem mame will tell you what it is. A common one is the soundcard.

loadman
edit never mind, its all working im justing going to have to live with it on debug That used to happen to me. I used glaunch for some years. I am now a MaLa Fe fan.... anyway. The problem really is glaunch has not been updated for some time so you don't get decent error messages to diagnose problems.. Try installing the latest version of driver for you video and sound card
