Phil
Hi all, happy to be here! I have been racking my brain trying to remember an arcade game title. It's a side-view fighting game with the player controlling a swordsman against the computer who controls a different creature at each level. One of the creatures had a snakes body instead of legs and the tip could be chopped off. It was set in a coloseum. I had played this game around 1990. Somebody please help end my torment. MadMikeAU
Kinda sounds like Barbarian (or maybe Barbarian 2) on the C64/Amiga If it was a platformer, it could have been Magic Sword...http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=&game_id=8496

Phil
Altered beast was a continually scrolling game. The game I'm looking for does not continuously scroll, similar to other fighting games in that respect such as street fighter, mortal kombat, etc and the guy has a sword. Administrators Arcade King Posted September 13, 2006 Administrators Share Posted September 13, 2006 I think Elvis has hit the nail on the head. The other games suggested are all horizontal scrollers. I'll have to get me a mutant fighter one of these days use to love that game.
Phil
That's it - Fighting Fantasy! Elvis you are the man, the king has left the building. Thank you so much! I have been looking for this game for months. I have been collecting the games that I played as a young man for some time now and this was the only one I didn't have. Thank you again and thanks to everyone for responding. Cheers. Thanks also to Mickey juice.
elvis
Yay me! I stumbled across the game in MAME a few months back (my MAME cab has a "random game" button, which is bloody fantastic for discovering name games you've never seen before). When you described it it was the first thing that popped into my mind. Right... I'm shouting myself a nice strong coffee in celebration. :)

Not Matt
Are you still after this mate? I've had the board about a year now, it's the Fighting Fantasy version. I've lent it to mate since June when he picked up his first cabinet (a 2 button with Bad Dudes in it), but I could get it back. Got anything to trade? Not Matt
Was just thinking ... if he doesn't come back and check this in the next couple weeks, do you reckon you could send him an email King? I know how annoying it is to find a particular board, Out Runners will be mine!
