good deal/prices on wii atm

ecogamer also puts up a lists of catalogues and deals.

It seems The Good Guys are branching out into console games too now (well the one here never really had any before). Their catalogue that's out in the next week or so has a bunch of newer games for decent prices (comparable with JB). There is a wii console bundled with Mario power tennis (a Gamecube game remade with motion controls) which should be better value than the shovelware that usually gets bundled with them, a little cheaper than usual too, I think.

Another thing to keep in mind is wait until someone doesn't have any bundle offers. With most bundle offers I couldn't give a stuff about most or all the games they are including (bundled games tend to have bugger all trade in value if you can trade them at all) and the sports controller attachments would go straight into the recycle bind.

I went into JB one arvo when they didn't have any advertised bundles and asked what they could do if I got the console, wii play (might as well get a game with the extra remote), nunchuck and some games. In the end the nunchuck was free, the guitar hero 3 pack came down so the second guitar cost about $30, while the console, wii play and some other games dropped down to what they would have been if on sale. I saved some money and got what I wanted without all the hassle of trade ins.

Coming from someone that works in the games department for one of the big retailers i'd certainly suggest keeping an eye on PALGN and making sure you know what you want to buy before you go looking for price tags.

Often you will see stores throwing in one or two games for an extra $20 or something and while these may appear good value most of the time the included games are utter tripe and you wont even get $20 worth of use out of them.

My suggestion to people buying wii's is to spend the money buying the accessories at the start. The console is certainly a multiplayer experience. The games will always be there and regularly on sale so when buying a console as it already comes with wii sports (which is awesome no matter who plays it) you are best to buy a second wii remote and nunchuk.

Now in terms of games, obviously first party nintendo made games are more often than not the best. For a fun racing game - go Mario Kart, for a good platformer i'd go Mario Galaxy or if she's into that kind of thing - you could even go a wiifit.

In terms of haggling you aren't going to get alot off the console at there is about $20 - $30 of margin within them however you can often get $10 off a console or game quite easily by just asking.

Anywho that's enough of a rant from me, i guess all im trying to say is don't get fooled by bundles offering crap and useless titles, the games simply fail and won't ever get used.

From previous experience GAME usually have good bundles, JB HIFI will often have good ones that you can snag for about $440 or so (Yes its more expensive but look at the titles its bundled with) and naturally BIG W have the best but rarely ever have any stock of them.

In terms of games, definately go BIG W or JBHIFI - as you can see on PALGN there are decent sales at both at the moment.

Happy to answer any questions.

Regards,

Steve

If you are looking for modded wii you can pick them up for $400 odd which is the price of a new unit anyway

Just it won't have warranty since its been modded.

Also they don't come from a store front but rather from a forum similar to this.
