After Hankin made Empire Strikes Back (ESB) they were found to be in breach of copyright. Leisure and Allied Industries (LAI) here in Australia were part of that law suit as they distributed ESB. Part of the settlement was that they had to supply labour and resources for assembly of Stern machines. Cosmic Princess was one of those models assembled in Australia for Stern as part of the law suit settlement.

Its a Stern that I will own oneday. Yep low production run, and only made available here in aust. It would probably be considered boring by many players. Great artwork on the BG, the drop targets have a cool feature in that you have to work your way up to getting them all to sit up. Described well on IPDB. It maybe rare, but you see them for sale alot. 800 fair to 1200 good nick, should get you one.

Dunno about that....

Cosmic princess predates ESB by 10 months.

Wanna be extra nice for 1500.

It's not a bad machine, nor is it amazing.

Layout is very similar to 1978's Wild Fyre.

I'd have one in my lineup. Love the old Sterns.

Well I doubt that is what happened

LAI never sold the Hankin Game, and if there was a law suit it was between Hankin and Lucas Arts at the time.

There were a number of games assembled here in Australia to reduce shipping costs, even some Bally games.

Hey Wayne wear where the Ballys assembled in Australia?? was it LAI in Melbourne? I sort of remember that happened..

camera highscore

One thing a lot of people dont know is that on some cosmic princess games a polaroid instamatic camera was at the top of the backbox inside the head, and when a high score was achieved a photo of the player with the high score attached would slide out for the player to retreive, this feature was also available on Playmatic's FLASH DRAGON from 1980. Both these games with the camera feature are very rare.
