anyone interested?

I'm a bit amazed no one has done this yet (or have they:unsure), not that I'm in a situation to do it but it would be a great venture sourcing original cabs OS.

I'm happy to speak with anyone who is keen

It would make a nice venture

interested parties, pm me

and if anyone would like to help create a small endeavour, then feel free to contact me by pm

I also see endeavour gets a red line from the teacher, even though t'is the Queen's English

when you say done, do you mean, a reply or the concept?

Probably both.

Some guys here have great collections of machines. And the concept has been done here as far as trying to organise a container.

Good luck if you can get it off the ground.

well that is interesting

having visited the local outlet (B&M) you'd think that there was a business opportunity *with bells on*

I'm very heartened to hear there are locals with a great range

There should be more

And there is next to nix, I think, for the newcomer

This was the case when I started looking years ago and it remains so, unless I am mistaken

If you hand pick them from the states they are cheap enough, then you have to get them to the container and have them crated and packed. Unless you can buy arcade machines in bulk containers like pins which I don't think is happening is it?

Then you have the logistics of what happens when they arrive here. Buyers from all over aus with additional shipping obviously to be arranged by individual buyers. How does the cost of the container shipping and dock charges get broken up amongst the buyers, equal share per machine I guess.

It's an interesting idea, but very difficult to organise for multiple buyers all pulling machines from various locations abroad. I look at sales on US ebay and KLOV and just shake my head. Prices for dedicated machines there are what we are paying for conversion cabs, or quite often less.

Q. How do the guys importing pins in bulk (ie, the dealers) get the pins? Are they bought as is, container already filled and packed (which I understand is the case) or do the buyers head over for a buying spree, and fill the container then arrange shipping etc?

Most Pin containers already packed and buyers are offered the container as it sits ready to go..

Thats how I thought it worked. With a listing of this many A grade titles, this many B grade titles etc.

I doubt this is happening with dedicated arcade machines, which means the leg work to get all the dedicated's lined up and at the shipping place for packing the container all at the same time from multiple sources, bought by multiple buyers would make it very hard I think.

so, a shopping list

a small team, handpicking the items

a small number of crates in designated US locations to drop

a small outlet in Hobart

a few people to troubleshoot and sell/shift at the shopfront

I saw nobody else doing it whilst there

And I'm definitely up for it considering the local competition

I wasn't looking for buyers all over Aus

Just an outlet for Taswegians in Tas

A place where you have a selection of well chosen and presented machines, at a reasonable price, in the internet age

Forget the idea of making it a business opportunity importing arcade games. By the time your done paying for the game, shipping, customs, parts and your own time restoring them you will not make any money.

You also need to be prepared to have 100% of the games either not working or needing a lot of work even if you buy them working.

Not trying to put you off or anything but you need to be aware that it's not a business opportunity on a silver platter. There's a lot of work and a lot of luck involved.
