Timolol
Hi everyone! I'm glad I came across this forum. It's great to see we have an active members in this forum always readily to help each other. Just a brief intro. My background and exposure to arcades began when I was in high school. I basically knew nothing until some of my classmates influenced me to give it a go. I was living in Hong Kong then, and Puzzle Bobble and Street Fighter (or Fighting Street) were amongst one of the more popular games around. I probably just passed the legal age of entry then (mainly because the aracdes allowed smoking). Like many others, Street Fighter 2 was the game that really got me hooked and sacraficing my limited pocket money. That sensation of playing in a very dark environment with the bright 29" CRT shining on my face, hearing and seeing a nice "sonic boom" from Guile was just remarkable. :) I've been a SF fan since through uni, but have stopped since my friends and I are all working and had less time to play. The recent introduction of SF4 tickled my fancy again. I guess things are now different to the student years... I only realised the affordability of getting an arcade cab and the potential freedom of converting it into a MAME machine. So I may need plenty of assistance along the future. I live in Melbourne. Where would you suggest I begin? Thanks! Tim :)

Etch71
Hi Timolol, Your username is the same as an eyedrop used for treating glaucoma, perhaps it's from playing SF in the dark lol. Welcome to AA you'll find some great info here.
ajlaird
G'day mate, I'm in Melbourne as well. Into pins rather than arcade, though. Where to start?? If you want to buy a cab then eBay is a goer, but you might want to ask on here first in the Wanted section. Hopefully there are some available in Melbourne for a good price. Also check out the Commercial section. If you want, and have some basic woodworking skills, then you might think about a home-made cab. If you do a search on the site you should find a number of threads related to this, some of them complete with plans. Either way, just ask what you need to ask and you should get a useful reply. Timolol
Thanks ajlaird! I have indeed received some great responses and plenty of information so far. I've done all of what you've mentioned. I've seen the candy cab which was made from scratch, but I seriously doubt I have the woodworking skill to achieve the same quality or even to the quality that would satisfy myself! So I'll just have to wait and hope I'm not too late picking up this hobby! :)
