Nick Ferros - R.I.P. mate

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Not a nice way to start the day but father, husband and long time pinball collector Nick Ferros was killed in a car accident yesterday afternoon.

Nick was from the Far North Coast of NSW, was a great guy and a mate. He was an operator as was his Father.

Just a week before Christmas - don't take life for granted.

I cannot believe it. I heard the news yesterday afternoon about a car accident at Evans Head. My first thoughts were I hope it wasn't Nick.

I was fortunate to meet Nick at one of the Sydney Pinball auctions at Darlington (Redfern) about a year ago. He was with Tony's (Illawarra Steelers) brother in-law, Anthony. Had a good chat with Nick there and you could see he was full of information and very helpful back then. A real top bloke.

I saw Nick again only last month when I was up in Queensland visiting Tony (Pinball Shed), when Nick was there with his mate Mick. We had a good chat and a laugh or two and he invited me to his place next time I was up near Evan's Head. I felt very honoured to be invited and he even joked how come I hadn't popped over yet? :) Absolute genuine guy and I know he will be missed by so many people who knew him.

My condolences go out to his family.

Dan

What a shame.. Unknowingly, until Evans head was mentioned I had no idea who this fella was.. But now knowing about Evans Head I remember buying a cab off this chap a few years ago. He had a great collection of pinballs at his house, mint machines and a 'warehouse' at the end of the street crammed with all sorts of stuff..! Pinball machines, arcade machines, kiddie rides, everything. I was a total noob at that stage and paid no attention to his pinball collection, but since then and every time I drive through Woodburn on the North Coast, past the Evans Head turn off I cast a thought back to that shed full of goodness.. I will now remember old mate and his collection when ever I pass through Woodburn, past the Evans Head turnoff..

RIP..

Very sorry to hear about Nick. I never met Nick in person but he helped me out once with some parts I was looking for. He replied to my ad and within a couple of days the parts turned up in the mail. No charge for the parts or the postage. Nick was just glad to help out a fellow collector.

Thanks for everyone's kind words, I'll certainly pass them on.

Nick was the one who was responsible in getting me actively involved in collecting pinballs, really helped me out a lot when I was a noob and we become good friends through our appreciation of pinballs. He was one of the nicest and most sincere people I have ever met and will be missed by all. :cry

Sad sad news.

Timely reminder that to most of us Christmas is a fun time of year but to others, Christmas can be a very sad season for various reasons.

I never had the privilege of meeting Nick but he has clearly touched a fair few people within the pinball world.

Here's cheers mate ......
