Hi Everyone,

If there are any AA members that are computer whizzs i would appreciate your advice!!!

I have Standard ADSL with Telstra that has got a bit slow,I rung Telstra and got that fixed which was caused because i hadnt deleted cookies or temporary files for quite some time??

It wasnt because i had used my usage as i have plenty of that per month with 15GB in which i only ever use 3-4 GB.

Now i have another issue,I cant load up certain webpages??

You type address in addressbar hit enter and it shows green bars to show its loading but then it comes up done with a blank white screen no webpage loaded?

This has happened to me last night and this morning on these 3 websites.....

http://www.telstra.com

http://www.pinballfactory.com.au

http://www.quickflix.com.au

Dont know why,I cant get on these websites?

Any advice would be great,Thanks.;)

My computer is getting old i guess in technology terms at 5 yo so after xmas i think i will lash out at a new one. Will get a laptop this time instead of a full blown workstation i think.

Could be DNS issues at Telstra.

A few years ago when I was still with Bigpond I discovered that their DNS servers were not updating or were not updating a particular range :unsure

I could not get to some of my hosted sites after a server change unless I used IP. Rang Telstra and told them what the problem was. I spent a LONG time explaining why it wasn't my home network at fault. They were trying to tell me it was my unsupported router despite me explaining to them exactly why it couldn't be my fault due the to testing and results I'd provided. Got it escalated to Level 3 who then verified the issue and they told me they'd get back to me.

I got a call 2 weeks later telling me they'd fixed the problem. I thanked them for their effort but told them I'd already solved my problem at the time of the call as I'd pointed to Optus's DNS server instead as it seemed to be more reliable LOL!

So after that long ramble I just tried to ping http://www.telstra.com and and getting no response. Mind you we use Telstra at work so it looks like its definitely your ISP.

they are shockers. i don't have ANY phone line at all at the moment and haven't for the last few days. i call them (on my mobile of course) and spend 10 minutes getting through the menu system and waiting in the queue. i speak to someone with foreign accent, definitely not someone in australia. 10 minutes later they tell me there must be moisture on the line. i think this is their speak for a short, I then agree to pay a fortune if its my fault, and they say they'll fix it when they can. they won't be fast because our mobiles are with telstra and they are getting heaps of extra dollars now plus we are still paying all of our monthly phone plan and ADSL plan. i wonder if its a coincindence that the line stopped working when a telstra van was pulled up out the front and some dude was down the pit several days ago.......TURDS.:( Edited by stuba

stuba, we have a similair issue where i live on the gold coast. Where I live was once a swamp, so moisture gets into the exchange and f**ks up the cables and cause our phone line to be dead/have alot of static to the point of unusable. always takes them ages to get out and fix it

Try using the Open DNS server they are better and safer anyway
