Perhaps you should just lurk on this forum for a while and not post anything, it seems that it is your recent posts that have caused a bit of backlash. You might be a nice person in reality, but your posts tell a different tale and most people on this forum only know you online.

Coolspot, I came in here after reading the previous post, impressed that you were man enough to apologise and move on.

Unfortunately, there's no sincerity in your apology since you stated you're doing it because 'you were told' and you proceeded to rant about your reasons.

Half of the reason you're picked on is your sulky attitude (above), and the other half is your complete lack of proper punctuation which makes your post almost impossible to read.

Seriously man, I am NOT having a go at you 'just because everyone else is'. Just try and read your post back in one breath without any pauses or emphasis, because that's how its written. Not one capital, comma or full stop in that main paragraph? You may thing its not important but trust me, it gets really old and I for one end up ignoring your posts because they take too long to comprehend.

I'm not telling you that you have to go because everybody has tried, but seriously, if it's as bad as you say perhaps its for the best that you do. If so, good luck to you and your hobby.

same DM... when I saw this thread I though hey spot is having a go at being sensible and admitting his wrongs

spot that was no apology at all

think Matt is right...just ignore this forum's existance for awhile. Come back fresh, and for christs sake in the future re-read what you about to post at least 3 times to check wether it makes sense, and that its not rude or disrespectful.

Now go get that nice EM of mark and have heaps of fun getting it going!

:)

No, I didn't want you to apologise, simply suggested that it may help you in the long term and repair some of the damage you did to your reputation. I tried to explain to you in my PM why you are receiving flak from people, but again I see it's fallen on deaf ears. An apology will only be accepted if the person giving it is truly apologetic and means what they are saying. All you have done is blame others for your declining interest in Arcade. Coolspot, you are only young, but try and not fall into the trap of blaming other people for everything that goes wrong in your life, as you will never learn from your own mistakes. If Pinball is now your new passion, I wish you all the best.

Regards,

Johns-Arcade.

I don't know what coolspot wrote as an apology nor to I care. I have him on ignore and see no reason to change that but thought I'd better clarify my attitude yesterday, especially since he's deleted the posts made and made an apparently spurious apology.

Most people don't really care that his grammar and punctuation is appalling. It's a sign of the times and those of you with kids would know. I have a 22 year old, 14 year old and 7 tear old so I have seen all levels. Sure it's annoying but if so, ignore it and move on. All of that is old news.

My issue was that he made some VERY nasty personal attacks on a member who was actually trying to help him. Despite receiving polite responses with explanations, he got worse. When I saw the last one I saw red and I still believe rightly so. It was the epitome of what the mainstream media portrays Gen Y as. Rude, arrogant, me me me, and a prevailing attitude that the world and everyone in it owes me everything.

My care factor on the whole personality disorder is now low to none. As far as I'm concerned the problem for me is solved. Anyone also has the same power.

Cheers,

Brad

Yep, good advice. And in fact, coolspot could also choose to ignore the people he believes are being too hard on him... everybody's happy.

I agree whole heartedly with what DM said.

Coolspot you started as a annoyance, as mentioned your punctuation was horrible. All the members here are helpfull, and we (speaking globally here) have read your posts to help if we could. But they made my brain hurt reading them. My 8 year old structures sentences better than you.

Then what felt like an eternity later your posts became readable.

Now the attitude and personal attacks are not acceptable, no one here owes you a thing, in fact no one here owes anyone (with the exception of our admins whom without their work we wouldnt be here) anything. We all post here as a community to help eachother.

Help isnt something that should be expected, it is a priveledge to receive it. As it didnt cost you a thing.

Now I havent read your posts in the MAME thread, but I volunteered to inject copies into the system on page 116 (if I am correct) and all you had to do is PM me your address. You would have had them weeks ago, but you didnt, instead you had a sook.

So from now on, read, take a deap breath, THINK about what you will type, type, THINK AGAIN. And hit post.

Help as I said isnt a right, its a priveledge. Sometimes people are happy to help you, sometimes they arent. Rubbing people up the wrong way removes the former.

I have to say quickly that while i consider myself new here, i am appalled at what happened in the get mame thread. Every member here has a right to post what they are feeling but what Coolspot did was appaling. The members he attacked are right to be pissed at him. His apology is even more a slap in the face to those members and everyone on this forum.

What i don't understand is the attack on the grammer/spelling..sentance structure however i understand fully...some examples in THIS thread:

BRAD - I have a 22 year old, 14 year old and 7 tear old/ wrote as an apology nor to I care

FISHY - Now go get that nice EM of mark and

Now the above is not meant to be rude or disrespectful of these members, i have spoken to Fishy im PM's previously and i hope he knows i mean no harm. I am just trying to make a simple point that we all mispell :p things and is it really an important part of AA and posts??

Mate, There's a big difference between a typo, and a complete absence of any effort or a clue.

Well, it's important if you are expecting people to read your post and reply.

We're not just talking about minor spelling errors here, it's the constant lack of any punctuation and grammar that puts people off. It makes it really hard to read and figure out what the poster is even asking.

Everyone has their moments of mis-using your/you're, there/their/they're, hear/here, etc but you can usually still make sense of the post. The lack of any punctuation really screws with peoples heads though.

I almost always re-read my post before I press Submit and also after. If it's wrong, I almost always go back and edit it.

I actually think that Coolspot was almost trying to be sincere in his 'apology' in his own unstylish way.. He acknowledged his wrong and, to the best of his ability tried to make it right. We know he didn't do a particualrly good job of it, but as I said, I think the sentiment was there.. Now, instead of bagging him some more, lets just get over his misgivings and move on.

Meanwhile, I laugh at these 'Coolspot' threads and remember back a couple of years ago to when MAMEMAN joined the forum.. It was exactly the same, 'me, give me, now, want' - dummyspit. (Sorry MAMEMAN to use you as a past example ;)) Same thing is happening here, only CS seems to take things a lot more personally and the learning curve is a lot steeper.

Now CS.., HTFU, everyone else build a bridge and lets just sit back and wait for the next installment..!

I agree with you there. I am not making excuses for CS but I must say some of his action have the liking of someone who has been teased.

CS, you need to watch and learn how others here go about their business on the forum and learn from them.

Hang on a minute, CS stated that he was asked to apologise, he did not do it of his own accord. It certainly would have "appeared" to be more sincere IF he had apologised on his own behalf rather than having to be told to. Do you really think he would have apologised if he wasn't asked to? I highly doubt it.

wow... you really need to appologise because *YOU* want to, not cos some one else said you should.

and you really need to stop taking everything so seriously.

i have been called all sorts of names round this place when i get involved in issues related to video poker machines for example, and a topic i know a lot about and point out the legalitys of owning them at home.... or should i saw the lack of legality of owning one at home

and then i also get verbally bashed for mentioning linux and get called names too....

but you know what, it doesnt bother me, nor will it stpo me from visiting this web site and contributing to it nor will it stop me or upset me enough to post about those topics again

it all comes back down to your own attitude young man...

i understand your enthusatic about this hobbie, as are the rest of us, but you do seem to carry on like a spoilt brat who thinks the world owes him a living at times.

the latest that amazed me was with the dvd thread for mame stuff. we have all had to wait our turn at getting the stuff and if the wait seems like ages, then fire up google.com or pizzatorrent.com and go hunting for the mame stuff and d/l it your self.

i know it is all there, all the roms, bout 18 gig and about 65 gig of chd for the mame compressed hdds and the 18 gig for laser disc chds.

all you need to do is d/l and have some patience

seriously, learn to chill out a *little* bit and when someone has a go at you about at post, think about what they types before hitting the reply button.

and be prepared , if you dish it out, be prepared to cop it back.

verbal confrontation and the likes doesnt not bother be much anymore. i have been a technician and working in and around public places since i was 17 and have copped all sorts of abuse from anyone and everyone.... water off a ducks back to me.

but i have learnt form those experiences and applied myself to becoming a better individual.... perhaps you could try and do the same.

please dont think for a second that im attacking you in this post.... trust me, if i was, you would know all about it, but please, be a bit more considerate to other members around here and please try and think things thru a little *BEFORE* you post

Have a great day

:D
