River Patrol PCB's

Question

Hi Guys

I picked up a couple of river patrol (edited: Not River raid) boards, and am wondering if anyone knows where I can find the pinouts for it.

Even coinop has no mension of it.

Anyone?

Thanks

Largely off-topic, but if there's anybody out there who does homebrew Wii games, I'd love to see a 'special' version of River Raid where you use the Wii balance board to fly your plane, and dual (2) wii remotes to aim your turrets around the screen.

Man I'd be fit (or exhausted) after the first level :lol

I'm confused about this, I can't find any mention of an arcade version of river raid anywhere.

Wonder if someone made a bootleg of the atari 2600 version?

Yes , river patrol - sorry (Oops)

River Patrol maybe?

Hi Foot, are you able to edit the title for me please

Could not find any pinout in my bookmarked sites, but this site will be a help if you need to start from scratch.

Dave.

http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/spies.cgi?action=url&type=info&page=Identify-unknown-boards.txt

Just thinking, there is a game almost identical in gameplay, but with a waterskier (I think). MAME info shows River Patrol as a bootleg only. Was it a boot of the WS game with changed characters? A pin of the WS game might give you a start point.

I looked at MAME and yes, it is called Silver land (Skiing game)

The pinouts are here

I am checking the board now . . . we will see

Thanks Dave

Well it has 18 pins x 2

The pins are correct, IE the numbers line up

(From coinop.com) Thank you

Thanks for the Good idea Dave, it's a winner!

Thats the one I was thinking of Dez. Never gave any though to the UP-DOWN problem. Gotta be worth a look at as a start point. As long as you have the voltages and ground hooked up OK you should be alright.

All the voltages are the same , gnd's etc too

It's almost exactly like Ckong Alca except in total reverse. IE The solder side and Parts side are reversed AND the numbers go opposite too as a result of that.

I have run out of 36 pin Connectors so I will have to order some first

Thanks for your help Mate!

I will post up the final result in time . . .

Hi Guys

Latest update

I made a harness - only with 5+ 12+ Gnd and Video RGB & Sync - And coin

I get red lines very faint on a black screen (Identical on both boards) meaning it is a harness problem

I am guessing the RGB is incorrect

I sent this board to AK (Travis), he fixed it. (Thanks Travis)

Then I made an adapter incorrectly, and blew up the RAM on the board (I had the 12V on both sides of the 18 pin side of the harness, when it was meant to be 12V on only 1 side :redface :(

I corrected the harness problem, and turned it on and got a BAD RAM message

I replaced the RAM after ordering some from the states (Funny size) I had to cut down a larger socket to fit the RAM into it.

Fired it up and . . . . .

Success!

The following need working out

Coin, left, right, start p1, and 2, I will refer to Travises pinouts to get the game playable

Thanks again Trav.

Pinouts to follow soon, next few days . . .

which i think you will find is very close to the Phoenix/Pleiades pinout...

One question though, why would you number the connector so cack-handedly? is it screened like this on the pcb?

Hi Andrew

Great to have you on AA

The 36 appears there on the board

Any advice you can give me on this PCB repair?

Have you seen a black background on a RP board before?

Thank you for the reply

Secondly, I logged the pinouts that way (Back to front) to allow them to compare with the Pinouts left by Arcade King earlier in the thread :)

OK

Today I worked on this board

I wanted to narrow this down so I took the Bottom BAD board and fitted it to the Top GOOD Board

I got a split screen, but not garbage - Part of the game and title was visible

But my point is, the Background was black on this test

Now my logic is, if the Top GOOD Board was common to both tests, then the top board is causing the black background.

Right?
