Scotty T
Ok, Got the Jpac today. PC is plugged to it via PS2 connection. Not using the VGA connector on it. WHen plugged in and mame cab on, the Test light on the Jpac stays on (in red) No controls work. Open notepad and then test again, again nudda..... Checked out the mapping for Atomiswave Jamma and nothing too unusual except for the following.. In reference to the pinout http://www.ultimarc.com/jpac2.html E & 5 (-5v) on the atomiswave is not used M & 11 on the Atomisewave is Audio Gnd and Audio Out D & 26 are button 5 for 1 & 2 player I doub't this would have any effect.. Suggestions?
felixthadog
According to the Switch test failure codes table on that page you linked to, the problem is with 1 sw 6 on the J-PAC. Try disconnecting the switch and see if the problem still occurs. Also, have you run the Diagnostic Test to check for switch problems? :unsure Matthew
Scotty T
Yep. Even unplugged from the Jamma harness it does it... I noticed it flashes really quickly for about 2 or 3 time and then stays on

I noticed it flashes really quickly for about 2 or 3 time and then stays on You need to count exactly how many flashes there are and then compare that to the Switch test failure codes to determine which switch is causing the problem. Just to confirm, have you have done the following: First, run any program which displays keyboard characters. In Windows, the best is Notepad. In DOS, you can enter the following which will supress the command prompt: COPY CON NULL (if you use this, hit ctrl-Z when you have finished, to get back into the command prompt) Ensure the shift-lock is off. Then, on the pass-through keyboard, press CTRL-ALT-P. You need to press and hold the keys in that order but don't hold each key for too long otherwise the keyboard auto-repeat will kick in and upset the sequence.. You will get a menu sent to the screen as the I-PAC uses "virtual typing" to simulate keypresses to generate the messages. One thing this method can't do is display fancy graphics! I'll try to track down a USB cable and see what happens with that.

Did you accidentally plug the JAMMA harness into the J-PAC the wrong way? I did that when I first tried out my J-PAC and it blew 2 inputs :rolleyes Matthew

I did try USB, same problem. BUt once windows installed the generic HID driver for it, it worked, still has the red light on... PS2 still no go and also tried the Video input via the Jpac, nothing comes out... Going to email Andy, may have got a dud??
AskJacob
is your video 15khz? It will block the video if it is normal vga (31khz) unless you change a jumper...

Scotty T
Could be, Things to try. PS2 Cable. PS2 keyboard into the Jpac At the moment it's working via USB and bybassing the Jpac for the video which on the Atomiswave I don't really need... Andy got back to me and The lights on the Jpac are doing what they are suppose to, so nothing wrong there!,

Andy got back to me and The lights on the Jpac are doing what they are suppose to, so nothing wrong there!, Does it work via PS2 cable without the video plugged in? Could simply be a dodgy keyboard cable, however you're implying that with video connected it doesn't work at all which is a bit weird.
