Super Monkey Ball.. its $12.99 but worth it.. awesum game.. really shows off how well a game can be done for it, both in terms of graphics & how the motion control works..

theres plenty of free games too tho .. spend some time and browse the App Store, Top 25 Free section, theres plenty to be had :)

Tell me you got it on optus tho, right? :)

there is a beer drinking game. Cant remeber what brand, think it begins with h. Anyway, you have to slide a beer around objects on the bar and get it to its destination but tilting the phone. U can also have a virtual pint ;) When it comes out, i would advise getting force unleashed on it. Don't know how much its going to cost but i saw a preview of it on Kotaku.com.au and it looks bloody awesome

there are ways to do it.. mine isn't jail broken (yet) and I've got a few custom ring tones on there.. theres a few free mac programs to do it, but none 'free' for windows that I've come across yet.. of course, nothing is impossible to get for free :) Also certain torrent sites have packages of pre-converted ring tones you just drop into iTunes and they sync over happily.

I am planning on jail breaking mine soon tho, mainly so I can get hold of Net share, to let me use the phone and my 500mb/month from optus on my laptop when I'm stuck in places without wifi :)

well, first time I did it, i used default settings, it processed the new firmware image, and got stuck tehre.. phone never even reacted, i don't think it even tried.. 2nd time I went thru on 'advanced' mode and it gives you step by step instructions on how to put the iphone into DFU mode (raw firmware load mode, no os), did that, prog detected the phone in this mode, than stopped and again, did nothing! after letting it sit for ages, i decided 'fuck it, its not working' and tried to turn the phone back on.. nothing.. starting to worry at this point.. evenutally found if you hold both power and home button for 10 seconds, it comes back on .. now its just like nothing happened.. so.. i'm guessing it STILL didn't actually do anything to it.. it was just left in DFU mode which is why it woudlnt come back right away..

I really don't think you can actually physically 'brick' these things, only in the 1.0.1 firmware or whatever it was, and it was only because of the really horrible way they used to unlock it, by modifying the baseband itself..

The only way an iPhone becomes bricked these days by unlocking it from your network, and using a non official sim card.. when the next firmware comes out, until you can unlock it, you can't use your chosen sim, so it becomes an effective brick, but not physically, you could ways put the proper sim back in and be fine again.. or just don't update until a crack is out for the new firmware :)

ok, looks like i'm an idiot, just not holding the button long enough I think .. when you do the final stage of holding the button the guide app counts down for 30 seconds, but after 10, it goes away, and the debug log shows 'device connected in dfu mode', i'd been letting go at that point.. I tried holding it for the full 30 seconds anyway, this time I get a second 'device connected in dfu mode' followed by 'device connected in recovery mode' at which point i get the quickpwn logo on the screen, and jailbreak begins! :)

Followed by:

finished

Quickpwn finished, cleanup return:0

Wow, interesting, didn't even have to restore.. I ended up doing 3 restores in my failed attempts at flashing it in, but when it works properly, i get to keep my config.. awesum.. I'd do a backup anything, just in case tho :)

Tips:

Turn on Expert mode, the status log is a clearer indication of whats going on while its running

I used QuickPwn mode, its a pre-made image, and possibly why I didn't have to restore after installing. The other mode lets you make your own image from choices, but I don't see any reason/need to modify the QuickPwn image.

Do the full 30 seconds holding the last button, it seemed to do the trick for me :)

Update: Actually, sorry, there is a reason to do the custom image, you are able to change the 'system' partition size.. the iPhone has 2 partitions, 1 for the system (and your apps) and 1 for data (music/vids synced from iTunes) .. The system partition is 500MB, obviously with 250MB of firmware + apps, this can run out soon enough.. I might re-flash mine soon and see about increasing the space allocated to the system partition, but so far so good on this! :)
