After checking out your pic of the playfield I would follow the same line as those steel ball guides on it .Later model Bally/Williams have a hole in the playfield where you can put a small allen key in to rest the flipper against when adjusting also just a slight bit of up and down movement on the flipper you dont want it tight on the bush and tighten the clamp up F#@KING tight

cheers guys it looks like im pretty close then

i lost the like to the marvin repairs when firefox upgraded :x cheers for that

make sure the bushings are not worn.. You can check this simply by viewing the underside of the flippers and checking that they do not scratch the playfield during travel.

i can see where the mylar at some stage has been scraped by a flipper. might just order some new ones to be safe. as i did raise them up about 2mm of the PF when i set them but if they go flush with the bushings i guess there worn

Good idea - you can have some space between the top of the bushing and the bottom of the flipper base ( the black moulded shaft).. This can sometimes create friction, but you should replace the bushing..

I THINK from memory - these are the bushings;

You need 2 per flipper. Alternatively, you could go for a full rebuild kit - but they are expensive.
