spot
found this on another site. Translated LINK elsemi, famous for his part in CPS3 emulation, looks to have CVS2 and GGXX emulated to an extent. no real details other than the screenshots in the link. hopefully this is real - i know some work was being done with NullDC and NAOMI emulation. schnappy
NAOMI has been emulated using Chankast and NullDC. NullDC-Naomi is yet to be released, but there are a few videos of vs2k going on it. I don't think the NAOMI features in Chakast were implemented in a public release... since I couldn't get NAOMI going in Chankast's latest version, couldn't find any documentation of how to do it... /edit Didn't read your link before posting xD. AWESOME. Nebula makes awesome emulators... for those consoles no one else can be bothered with like CPS3, M2... he fills in the gaps :)
stu
Interesting little post http://209.85.171.104/translate_c?hl=en&sl=es&tl=en&u=http://www.speksnk.org/foro/viewtopic.php%3Ff%3D23%26t%3D69060%26st%3D0%26sk%3Dt%26sd%3Da%26sid%3D83b865e72fc7b9d95dd231bc6651a1bc%26start%3D130&usg=ALkJrhioQIi9m7Wpaem_vEjUt0JHD9HyUA#p471952
spot
wow!! how cool is that little circuit!?!? and to think emulation is crazy enough, now they are using crazy homemade hardware to help.
elvis
NAOMI only uses DES? Well I guess that makes sense, given it's age and export restrictions. That makes cracking the crypto pretty trivial. :) I'm happy with my two DreamCasts for now, but I have nightmares about either unit dyeing on me. I'm hoping there'll be a good NAOMI emulator ready for consumption in about 5 years, because by then I think my DreamCasts will have packed it in! stu
http://dknute.livejournal.com/ And from the latest mame update a bit of work Naomi updates [samuele Zannoli] 1) refactors many global and static variables in videodc.c into a structure to hold the tile accelerator state 2) textures should be better decoded with more pixel formats 3) adds placeholders for some register probably used by the dimm board 4) corrects a little error in a rom board register (very important, now at least the gdrom games try to start) Edited August 2, 2008 by stu

elvis
Anyone know what hardware he's using? All of the screenshots (BIOS, 2D, 3D or otherwise) show 60FPS steady in the newest screenshots. I'm damned impressed. The guy is doing a bloody incredible job.
stu
Not 100% sure, i've been trying to get it running but i can't get into the test menu to set game assignments.....grr Correction: I just got it running....core2 @ 3ghz runs GGX @ like 300fps with frame limiter off....but when i turn it on it seems to be running a bit slow.....but i reckon it would run on much slower hardware. Yet to try a 3d game. Get some of the roms here http://forum.emu-russia.net/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=458&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=

Interesting. I'm impressed at the speed. I expected it to require much faster hardware to come close due to the SH4's complexity. Although I assume this is doing a lot of dirty tricks to get speedup happening, much like early N64 emulation. With the frame limiter problem: try forcing vsync off via your video card control panels (and through the emulator, if it offers it). I know with MAME having both vsync on and frame limiter on causes all sorts of dramas, as if the frame can't sync it will hold back a whole frame, which can sometimes drop a 60FPS game all the way down to 50FPS or worse just because of the sync delay fights. Well, this is pleasing. I feel better knowing that I have a fallback for CvS2 if my DC dies (because I'll be damned if I play it on PS2!).
stu
I got CVS2 running last night also, that game runs very slow and also has quiet alot of graphics glitches. Guilty Gear also have sound and graphics issues, but it's only very very baby stages in the emulator so i'm sure they will work it out in time. stu
New version of the emu out, i now get guilty gear SLASH running graphical glitch free. And the sound seems to be working now. Still have the issue with the framerate all screwy when i enable the frame limiter....Zero 3 upper is booting now, possibly a bad dump? But gundam is working pretty sweet as well.... Check it out kiddies, it's available in that thread. http://forum.emu-russia.net/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=458&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&sid=86358d80a34b4b0fa026cfea0c0465df&start=

elvis
Good to know it's still being worked on. Cheers stu for the updates - I'm watching with glee. Between this and SF4 on PC, I might end up with a Windows machine in my house for the first time in 5 years! :)

stu
Try Guilty Gear XX Reload, it's pretty much perfectly working now. Aside from some very minor graphics glitches that appear when flames show up on the screen. They've finally fixed the timing though, with the frame limiting on it runs @ the correct frame rate with no jerkiness. Ikargua is also looking mighty fine. Just be sure, to set conotroller 1 to "Keyboard" in the main config, then go and setup the JAMMA 1 config with your keys. It's also alot easier to config now, as for roms/bios, just point the roms folder to a recent mame set and it's all there.
