Playfield Wear....Mylar?

Talby

Question

Hi, I have a few spots of wear (small hairline cracks) appearing on my BSD playfield. Areas are in front of the slingshots, and near asylum hole. What is the best thing to do to protect the playfield from further wear? I was thinking some Mylar patches straight over them. Is this OK and where is the best place to source Mylar if I go down that track?

Mylar and I have a love/hate relationship. Fine to apply in small areas like ball drops and slings and between pop bumpers providing the area in question has been cleaned/touched up or repaired to best it's going to be BEFORE the mylar goes on with a view that if you ever want to remove the mylar you'll have more damage than you started with. Had a few bad experiences but that only my 2c worth:D

Slingshot Mylar are specially cut, and you don't have to spend a fortune just to protect those spots. Buy a third and but it to size for other areas;

or use the ball drop mylar;

$3.00 + postage...:cool:

Its great that the slings are cut perfectly, no rough edges or bad cuts with scissors or exacto knives. I use them on my games and they are perfectly clear.

Is this seller a member on AA ?

I did buy a big sheet once, but unless you use a template, the curves can be difficult, and you too often end up with an "edge" that the professionally cut ones don't seem to have. I think the cutting sort of folds the lip a tad and caused this. The pre-cut stuff doesn't seem to have the problem.
