MadMikeAU
I have a fairly kick arse computer that I normally get a rock solid 70fps on Day of Defeat. No matter what I do, never drops below 70fps (doesnt go over because I have set the max to 70fps). Anyway, a couple of days ago I noticed the occasional pausing during gameplay. Now games are unplayable. I get 70 fps while using the keyboard, but as soon as I touch the mouse, it drops to 4fps !!! Stop moving the mouse, back up to 70fps. Pisses me off. I get sub-50 pings too.ffs Not the mouse: I swapped for a new mouse straight out of the pack that I had spare. Same. Not the USB hub: removed it and pluged straight into the motherboard. Same. Can play fine on my wife's lower spec PC. I have updated nVidia drivers, directx, logitech drivers. Same. I have deleted and regenerated ClientRegistry.blob (a Steam file). Same. Any ideas? Womble
How busy is the CPU when these glitches happen? 1st thing to check is whether you have software that is loading down your machine, spyware, if you have multiple infestations will eat up a lot of CPU time. Mouse lag is a sign that your PC is very very busy.
The Pinny Parlour
Is it a logitech with drivers? Uninstall all logitech drivers and try. Failing that, remove your Anti whatever suite and see if that helps.
tnpshow
You haven't got AVG installed by any chance? Try uninstalling if you do - I had similar problems using some Adobe products which magically disappeared when AVG was removed...
shooter
sounds like a virus stuff to me. Personally. grab a free trial version of Kaspersky. http://www.kaspersky.com.au/ and do a FULL scan. See what it finds, if you like it. There are places you can get it for like $30 a year just go searching.
Scotty T
Also try a PS2 mouse, see what happens
MadMikeAU
It is a logitech. Was happening without drivers. Installed the drivers...no help. I do use AVG, full version...hmmmm..... I dont notice much extra cpu usage. Reckon it may be a spyware/virus/ffsomgg&gfware. I will do a big arse scan and see the result.
MadMikeAU
After much fucking around it seems to have been one of a handful of programs. Most likely XFire :( I can now play games again !!! Now I am having issues with the middle mouse button. Probably the logitech drivers I installed as part of this clusterfuck. I have no problem fucking them off. Nidzdotnet
Make sure your video drivers are the latest.. don't ask me why.. It just sometimes will happen. Is this wired or wireless? Is it a Laser mouse? Yeah I'd check the CPU load.. Is it only in games? Does it happen only online or offline play? Lots of things to check.
