PSP - Mame4ALL - Help please?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm having a few issues with Mame4all I'm hoping one of you might help me with.

I've got the latest version installed (PSP MAME4ALL v4.9r2 Hires by TTYman, 16/11/2007)

I'm on a PSP phat running custom firmware 3.90 M33

In the install directions it says the following :

- Copy in /PSP/GAME (firmware 1.5) or /PSP/GAME150 (firmware 1.5 compatibility for 3.xx OE release);

There are four different builds in archive:

1) 1.50 Kernel mode (psp_mame4all_v4.9r2);

2) 1.50 Kernel mode without neogeo and cps1 support (psp_mame4all_v4.9r2-noneogeo-nocps1);

3) 2.00 User mode (psp_mame4all_v4.9r2-usermode);

4) 2.00 User mode without neogeo and cps1 support (psp_mame4all_v4.9r2-usermode-noneogeo-nocps1);

Use psp_mame4all_v4.9r2 as installation base, then replace EBOOT.PBP with your needed/preferred build;

- Recreate zipped roms with included ClrMame compatible .DAT files (v0.34-v0.36 mixed roms);

- Add created zipped roms files in ROMs subfolder and samples in samples subfolder;

Samples must be in .sam old Mame pre-v0.35 format, downloadable from http://www.mameworld.net/samples/sam.htm

Question time!

1 - What version of the build are people using for their PSPs?

2 - How the hell do you recreate zipped rom filed with CLRMame?

3 - Is this the best MAME version for the PSP atm? My experiences with MAME on the PSP haven't been the best in terms of compatibility or speed so far...

Thanks in advance for your help/advice.

Cheers

Oh I just found an answer for question 2 at least!

get on google and search for CLRmame pro program.

Unrar it, and a wizard will come up when you launch the program. Hit Load Dat and give to it the dat inserted into emulator archive. Under Settings, setup the paths according to where your roms are and where the converted ones should end, then hit scan button from the main menu. Select non merged files from the center column and start the process.

Go go gadget google!

Bah, that didn't work!

*cries*

The tutorials they have on the CLRMame site just don't match the current version of the application.

Talk about a pain in the backside!

Time to just say stuff it and go get a GPX2 I think!

:evil:evil:evil

Found It!

Clrmamepro

The Following Steps Should Work, But Have Not Been Tested, They Have Been Adapted From http://newbie.gp32x.de/gp32/mame.htm

1. Install Clrmamepro

2. Create An Empty Folder (this Will Be The Directory Where Your Mame Gp2x Roms Will Be In The End)

3. Open Clrmamepro

4. Add The Datfile (clrmame.dat) From Mame Gp2x. Then Select Load / Update.

5. Settings: Just Change The Rom Path To The Created Empty Folder From Step #2. It Will Moan That No Sets Are Found There, Which Is Okay (as We Don't Have Any Rom Sets In There Yet)

6. Select "scanner". You Don't Need To Change Any Settings, Just Be Sure "split Sets" Is Selected. Press The "scan" Button.

7. It Should Scan Fast, As The Roms Folder Is Empty See The "scan Results" Window? Leave It Open!

8. Now Use The Windows Explorer To Open The Folder Where Your Mame Roms Reside. Select All Zips And Drag Them Into The Scan Results Window. Clrmamepro Will Now Begin Rebuilding 0.34 Sets In The Empty Folder.

9. After It's Finished, Your Mame Gp2x-ready Roms Are In The Folder Created At Step #2.

If You Want To Add New Roms Later, Do "scan" Again And Drag The New Roms Into The Scan Results Window.

Yay! :d
