Fish Tales
How cool would this be: http://www.fabfan.com/classicpinball.htm and http://pinballnews.com/news/ems.html ppl on rec games saying cost will be 3-3.2k US
Pindividual
It's good in that it may generate more interest in pinballs. However, I personally prefer the depth and complexity of late solid state era machines.
Super Moderator Foot Posted May 6, 2008 Super Moderator Share Posted May 6, 2008 For that price there are a lot of other pins on my list. If I wanted an EM I think I'd buy an original and restore it rather than buy a new one
Ric
i think the price tag will be the killer however i don't really know how you would make it any cheaper It looks amazing though howver for $3,500 i would prefer to but two or three 80's pins or even some 70's pins and have a bit of change leftover this is strictly for the purist
xygt
I think it could even be for Mum and Dad home buyers, as they have a brand new machine that theoretically run for years without stuffing up in a home environment. I like the idea :D
Prof
For 3.5 for a new machine isn't too bad. Sterns are around the 8k mark landed IIRC
ktm450
Interesting idea, but lacks the depth of the newer games, and will not appeal to people interested in games of that era, as they could buy something far cheaper and restore to new.
toast76
Yeah I kinda feel the same way. I mean it's kinda like having one of those CD jukeboxes. It doesn't have the genuine "collectible" feel of the orignials, and isn't up to the task in comparison to an mp3 player hooked up to a good amp. ANT68
Kmart all over Saying that, I reckon my mate in China could pump these out or similar one with no problems at all. Tell ya now wouldn't cost much ,but I wouldn't buy one .:lol:lol I bet many would .:lol:lol Edited May 6, 2008 by ANT68 Automerged Doublepost
pinnies4me
Personally I am rather partial to the idea. I get as much fun out of Joker Poker as I do out of BBB or AFM. Pinball was once actually more about the shots than the toys you shot at, and many of those old games are great players games today.
Fish Tales
They will be making other games as well. Gotta be a good thing to have another maker of new pins.
PeterW
I would definitely buy one. :) I grew up playing this era machine and would love to own one. I've been thinking about buying an original but would not want to spend too much time trying to keep it going and my techie skills aren't great. Having a brand new reliable machine would be brilliant, provided that it really was true to the original. It certainly looks good to me. And for me, a revival of the Gottlieb name with classic machines such as this would be great.
Pindividual
I'm trying to think of a Gottlieb EM that I liked enough to buy a remake of. If only Fireball had been Gottlieb :)
ANT68
When I was about 10 I bought my first pin gottlieb Outer Space about 1970 ( i think ).I liked that game ,never forget the day I sold it for $100 bucks.Still kicking myself .
