My To-Do List

Recommended Posts

I still have a lot of things to do before I can call my lowboy cab "complete", I will be seeking advice and suggestions on the best way to accomplish these things.

1) Add a fluoro light (or similar) behind the marquee to illuminate it.

2) Cover the marquee with clear perspex.

3) Add a new black plastic monitor bezel.

4) Cover the monitor with tinted perspex.

5) Cover the coin box door opening (see here)

OK, so starteth the questions:

1a) Can I power a fluoro light from the 12V lead of a PC's power supply?

1b) How should I run the power lead from the fluoro (located in the marquee section) to the inside of the cabinet so that it is concealed?

2a) Where can I buy clear perspex and have it cut to the correct measurements?

2b) How do I attach the marquee perspex to the cabinet?

3) Can I buy a new monitor bezel or does anyone have one for sale?

4) Where can I buy tinted perspex?

5) Should I cover the coin box opening with a piece of ply and add hinges to make it swing open like a door, or a piece of metal with a cam lock and make it more like a coinbox?

1a) Yellow & black wire from a HDD connector, yellow is +12V

1b) There isn't already an internal way to run wires? can you just drill a hole for the wires to pass through? photos might help here.

2a) I bought perspex from bunnings, but they don't cut it to size :(

2b) From what I've seend, usually the marquee perspex has some sort of "slot in" style arrangement. Perhaps a small piece of timber on each side infront and behind to hold it in.

3 & 4) NFI

5) Depends on style, what do you want to do? Making it look like a coin door would be cool, but best bet would be to get a hold of a door that fits

1a) I have wired some illuminated buttons using the yellow wire from the PSU for power and the black wire from the PSU for ground, do I just follow the same principle for the fluoro light?

1b) I'll take a photo of the cab with the marquee artwork removed tonight.

1c) Where can I buy a fluoro light that runs off 12V?

EDIT: Would this be suitable?

2a) No good for me if I can't get it cut, unless Bunnings already sell the perspex in the exaxt size that I need it.

2b) My Chase HQ cab has 2 pieces of metal (one at the top and one at the bottom) that hold the marquee in place, I'll take a photo tonight.

3) & 4) Me neither :cry

5) Doesn't worry me, I just want the opening to be covered and flush with the front of the cab. I guess a cam lock would also be nice, it will stop small hands opening the door and fucking around with the FrontX panel inside :023:

That is the same stuff used to hold the marquee in place on my Chase HQ machine. Come to think of it, I might already have some lying around somewhere, I'll check tonight coz that would be a bonus. If not, can I buy that from Bunnings in various lengths and sizes? :unsure
