Black Monitor & thin Vertical Green Line

Question

My Monitor is completely black except for a thin vertical green line in the middle.

 

Please tell me i haven`t F#@Ked it.

 

What have i done (Wasn`t there before)

 

Can it be fixed.

 

How can i fix it.

well if you were playing around with it I would say you have vertical collapse, probably from not plugging the yoke cable properly, the yoke is the big copper thing on your tube...

Other possibilities are broken tracks, bad joints, components replaced incorrectly, failed components, bad POT adjuster...

For a vertical collapse problem, it's often not a vertical output transisor or IC. If you are using an old chassis it's often a dried out electrolytic capacitor in the vertical section, usually one mounted right next to a heatsink. If there are no dried out caps then yeah probably faulty transistor or IC depending on what the circuit uses.
