Anyone got a 3mm slot cutter or coin mech they want to part with?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I haven't yet found a suitable 3mm slot cutter (router bit) for the T-moulding... and I've missed the last two auctions on suitable coin mech's.

Has anyone got a slot cutter they might want to sell (ie bought for a once off), and/or dual coin mechanisms (preferably 20c per credit or 2x20c per credit, preferably with door, backlit a bonus).

do you mean old skool ?? like two 20 cent mechs chrome door ect ect ??

You mean something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230070623301&rd=1&rd=1

That would be sufficient, so long as I can use it with an IPAC... I prefer to have two slots (though how many games have seperate inputs?).. though as I said something more modern (backlit, inbuilt door etc etc) is just a bonus. This is going in a hand built cabinet with a full access door (with a lock) to the PC so the coin mech doesnt really need a door of its own.

If anyone's looking, I just found a 3mm slot cutter with a 1/4" arbor for $37.80 at "Unanderra Hardware Man" (I believe Hardware Man is a chain). Bit with 1/2" arbor also available for $52.

I'm still after a coin mech though if anyone has one for sale.

I've got something in the shed. I think it's a relatively old coin door I bought off of Evil Pay from Coin-op Kev for a mame cabinet. I have since puchased a carcass with a coin door for what I origionally bought the coin door for. I will take a photo or two and send them on. Postage might be a pain though as it weighs a bit....

Thanks Crafty... happy to look at any options. Given the coin mech's are just for authenticity I'm just after something simple that I can hook straight up (rather than getting door/mechs/lamps/switches and whatnot seperately).

Looking forward to the photos!

PS: I used the slot cutter for the first time today... lets just say I'm happy I practiced on scrap first! The finished product though was perfect. Horrah!

Still have not got to the shed...

Hopefully this weekend. Just so you get an idea of what I have, it's the same coin door as Hoopster has reconditioned for his galaga Cabinet. That will give you something to look at immediately...

Ok, thats a big door, and I doubt I have the reconditioning skills Hoopster obviously does, but I dont have many options :)

I just found an auction on ebay for a collection of coin mechs and a couple of facias ... I suppose these could be used without a metal door, but there's a lot more mech's than I need and I dont like the look of those PCB's lying on the shagpile carpet! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Mars-Coin-Mechs_W0QQitemZ170068109289QQihZ007QQcategoryZ3945QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Might be worth a bid seeing as no-one else has bid on it yet...In all honesty $40 plus postage is what I paid and therefore subsequently would be looking for for my coin door any way.

It really depends on what you need. For an arcade cabinet sometimes a door with two coin mechs realll finishes off the whole look.
