SNK MVS Main Boards ?

con

Question

Hello people,

i am considering purchasing single slot a neo geo motherboard. From what i understand there are several

revisions of these boards, which makes it all the more confusing.

Which revision is compatable with newer carts??

I have heard confilciting stories on this subject. I have heard that the older MV-1A has issues with new carts, but then i have heard MV-1A owners say otherwise. My advice would be to gran any neo geo motherboard with a socketed bios. That was you can use the unibios and have 100% compatability with any board.

Definitely socketed.

Note that the BIOS chip is a 40-pin mutha'. You need a decent programmer to burn 'em.

(I purchased an Xeltek SuperPro on ebay for just that reason)

The UniBios available from http://unibios.free.fr/ has recently been updated to version 2.3, but you can download version 2.2 for free from the same site.

They are not that special, even a cheap o Willem Programmer can do them with a adapter.

So is the photo I provided socketed or pcb mount?

its hard to tell from the pic, all the boards like that i have seen have a socket for the bios. I have heard about some that have the bios chip soldered in.
