This is part of an Email from Highway Ent. I do not think they are represented in this forum. These machines are in Europe. I think we should all make an effort to get these machines to Australia, It might keep the prices on Ebay down to a more sensible level

Highway Ent want to sell them on as a bulk lot. They are just the middle men. 98 machines is more than a forty Foot container! Where could you store them? But if they were here there is profit to be made selling them off in ones or twos.

Ah OK ... Sorry I misunderstood the previous posts . I thought this was a container that H.E. was bringing in and selling individually. Wish it was that way . You guys could get your pick of them ( after me and ExtraBall have had our picks of course ..... )

That's A$95,000.

Which seems a good price given the A titles involved.

That's A$95,000, which seems a good price given the many A List titles involved.

Let's go sixths, @ $16k each.

I'll take a:

Corvette,

Creature,

Flipper Football,

Goldeneye,

Star Trek N.G,

Lost in Space,

Johnny Mnemonic,

Shadow,

Getaway

No Fear,

and whatever other leftover titles a sixth share entitles me to.

Purchasers pay their own transport from Newcastle to whereever. We can work out shared transport discounts if some of us end up being in the same cities.

(The way to do this fairly is to give each machine a notional value, give every shareowner a budget of one sixth of the combined value of the machines, and then take it in turns to each chose one of the machines available, until they're all chosen. That way everyone gets a crack at the machines they most want.)

Plus another 20k in shipping fees and taxes minimum :)

Say 130k just to cover any cost blow outs, $21667 a share - still interested?

Keep in mind that 1/3 of the machines are non-working or merely parts machines, selling them being far from trivial, who looks after that?, and how is profit (if any) split? Where do you store it all?

Definitely an interesting proposition, but 6 vested interests would likely cause too many problems imo ;)

Well im up for a 4 way split no problem. Highway ent are not planning to bring them to australia to split up.It seems they want to make just one transaction. The price is 50.000 EURO. No mention of extra for shipping. So who really wants to do business here?

Storage would be an ongoing expence ontill the machines are checked and sold on. I still think this would be a worth while venture if there are 3 others in NSWs Aera willing to get involved? PM me

GST and Power cords?

As we know,

There are known knowns.

There are things we know we know.

We also know

There are known unknowns.

That is to say

We know there are some things

We do not know.

But there are also unknown unknowns,

The ones we don't know

We don't know.

This is the category where gst and customs charges come in.

Sounds like a good deal but there are 64 complete machines.

complete but not necessarily working.

The whole lot would be a 40 foot and a 20 foot container.

Sight unseen is dangerous could be damaged playfields, boards not working, displays needed and a multitude of other problems.

We have seen them all.

Import costs not including shipping will be 15/20k as GSt will be payable on total value including shipping costs.

Cartage to where they are to be unloaded will 500-1000 for each container.

On paper it looks ok but there are many variables that can cause the costs to blow out.

Then if people are sharing in it who gets the "best" of any pinball.

Storage also can be costly.

Just my views on importing ...we have done a few deals like this and been very disappointed with the quality of some of the pinballs that have been in them.

Good luck to anyone who decides to get these.

Customs charges is the easy part. Its a flat 10% gst charge on the total price including shipping/insurance/transport etc.

do you think if they were any good really and such a bargain hiway would be buying them for themselves

Precisely.

If I had a lazy $200,000 sitting around I would buy them and lease a warehouse, set up a business , right all the repairs off in tax, whilst getting parts for the machines (I hand picked from the bunch), pick the best one's for myself and flog the rest.

Think I would sit around even but have all the pins I wanted and lifetimes worth of restoration .. hmm now where is that lazy 200,000 I put away oh yeah that investment house hmm sell a house buy 98 pinballs set up a business , there's a thought:unsure

I've seen photos of the best of them, and they're in typical container condition. Badly knocked around, and highway is ducking me on what machines are parts machines (thats the machines that aren't on that list that supposedly make up the 98).

Still waiting on a response to my latest round of questions.
