Arcade Jamma Setup

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

I purchased a kit from Jason in2amusements.com.au great guy, quick service.

http://www.in2amusements.com.au/shop/index.php/20/144_48_In_1_Complete_Arcade_Pack_DIY

Basicly this kit without the board and 2 player gear.

Bought it so I could get used of how this Jamma stuff works.

Just wondering I got the quick connect Jamma that's all fine. Power's all connected up to PSU and to the jamma board. Only thing is I gotta connect the buttons joystick and speakers.

Only thing I'm not sure about is on the buttons and joystick there's 3 connectors.

Which one is ground and input connections, I'm a little confisued?

If I make a mistake with the connectors it will not damage anything right?

what I mean is the buttons or joystick the power and monitor are sperate.

Could someone share some lite, very new to this. Trying to connect my Tekken 1 board.

THanks

JOsh

Usually the pin on top of the micro is ground but you will need to look at the side of the micro switch to determine which other connector you use ,it will need to be the normally open one ( ie N/O )

Hi

Np, so ground it, there's like 15 ground pins coming off one cable I guess I use 1 of them hehe.

So really I can't go wrong, if I do the game just will not work with that button.

This is the jamma harness I have http://www.in2amusements.com.au/shop/index.php/13/134_JAMMA_Extended_Wiring_Harness_With_English_Labels

Thanks very much

One thing you will need to be careful of is wiring up the speakers,Tekken is stereo and from memory jaspers harnesses are marked for stereo so just follow the sticker on the plug but you will need to check the pinout of any other game you decide to swap into the cab as the standard pinout for Jamma is mono

Cheers Gibo for that, so when I play say MK2 or Vendetta I need to unplug say the left Pin connector from the Jamma. Or is it best to unplug the quick connector from speaker.

So even if I get left mixed up with right on the joystick it will not damage the kit?

I'm sorry I sound like a dumbass, just want to be sure of this shit :P

Dont worry about the questions we all started somewhere,Vendetta you wont have a problem as that is stereo but MK2 you will as thats Mono.No it wont matter if you get L or R mixed up just make sure that its on the N/O connector. How many speakers in your cab?

Just 2 mate, so I have to have the white connector with is for the speaker L and R on the N/O connector or does the ground go there?

With the Sanwa Bat Joystick is that the same drill?

Say if I boot tekken up later and not all buttons are connected would it still work. Just for test reasons?

Oh with the speakers I got 8 ohm 10cm speakers 5 Watts each. Is there any better then this to give a nice bassy effect. I want Tekken to have the bass effect I heard in the arcades years ago hehe :P

Thanks very much for all the help :)

As far as Tekken goes just run the the white wire from the parts/component side of your jamma plug to the Positive terminal on the left speaker speaker, run the other white wire from the solder side of your jamma plug to the Negative of your left speaker .you will need to wire up a kick harness to get the right speaker to work and your 3rd and 4th kick buttons,I suggest you download the manual for tekken

http://arcadeconnection.serverbox.org/arcade%20machines/english/index.html

and look at the pinout for it as you will need another plug and some more wires(kick harness)

to answer your questions yes it will play with not all the buttons connected but wont be much fun and your speakers will be fine but if your after something better look at some car speakers

The speakers are connected together with 1 white wire. So I followed the LF white wire from Jamma to the left spekaers plug in the spade connector. I did the same for the right? Is this incorrect?

I pretty sure I'm getting a kick harness with Tekken, should recieve today. :)

Car Speakers hey, what do you reckamend?

I want punchy bass sound ;)

Thanks for everything.

Update:

Got it working, love the good morning on Tekken.

So yeah it's going working great. one thing it's farking loud how do I adjust this?

Also I have a kick harness with the PCB board. I have 4 buttons plug in only 2 working why is this?

Do I really need the kick harness for the 2 other buttons work?

The adaptor has wires coming off it but with no spade connectors, how should I connect these?

I'll love to get the other speaker working.

THanks

So i buy some spade connectors and a crimper?

Update: I bought a Electrical Terminals Blade female Wire: 3mm Tab: 6.3mm Qty: 18 (1/4") So with these connectors I can just get some puliers and press on the wire from the NAMCO 48-Pin Extended JAMMA (JAMMA+) Harness.

Thanks again for all the help mate :)
